When our boat was craned out for the survey prior to purchase the straps cuased a small amount of damage to the paintwork.
We have had the boat out on a slipway to do some rudder repairs and that went smoothly.

[Edited for fat finger typo]
We use ones from Ikea. Very useful for storing bedding. We put our summer duvet in there for the winter and vice versa, also spare bedding for guests.
We wouldn't have room to store them if they were'nt reduced in size.

We believe so. We clean the bowl with it, and put some down into the macerator gubbins when we leave the boat for a while. Since doing that we have had less problems with the mechanism sticking.

Before we bought our boat we had it surveyed, the surveyor measured the max beam at 6ft 10.5in, but we managed Hurleston earlier this year. It was a tight squeeze though !

You must like long showers! Our calorifier is 55l and we can easily get two showers, sometimes four short ones, plus washing up etc.
Is yours heating up fully? With some only the top half heats up.
We have the engine heating the bottom coil, and the Eber heating the top coil. So the engine heats all the water, but the Eber only the top two thirds.

They dont really need to hold, only act as a deterrent. Where we used to moor, we fixed bright red bars across the windows with blutak. It couldn't be seen from the outside. The boat next to us had it's windows kicked in twice by vagrants who stole bedding. We weren't affected, we put that down to the deterrent effect of the bars.

We have a Whale aqua source in-line filter. The water is always fine even after a few weeks of us not onboard. We also have a Duratank butyl liner in the tank so maybe we dont need the filter, but it was already fitted when we bought the boat.

If they have been using 'blue' then they will need to thoroughly rinse the tank, then to get the 'right' bacteria going people use variously live yoghurt, yeast tablets or bio washing powder.
It may take a while, but eventually all the bad smell will go.

Not near you, but the PO machine at the Thrup boat club on the S. Oxford has such strong suction you're in danger of the whole boat disappearing up the pipe!

We came along the Oxford summit yesterday. The levels were 4"-5" below the spill weirs. The back pumping meant that there was plenty of water for the Napton flight, but there was no water going down the by-washes at Claydon and several of the pounds were very low. It doesn't bode well for later in the season!
We did it a couple of years ago and will go back but take it slower next time.
It's great but the locks on the Kennet section can be hard work.
