  4. Buy another one? ----My link Alex
  5. What size are the shunt and ammeter? Alex
  6. Hi I repaired one these once. The only problem was that the cables were wrongly adjusted so that it went hard into reverse but the cables set up would not allow the lever to go into forward. There are various holes in the levers at the control and at the gear box and adjustments on the cables to balance up the lever movement, forward and reverse. Alex
  7. Hi The inverter will be fed by two wires, one from the red / live terminal of your domestic bank of battery's and one from the black / negative. These will be big cables but there will be further big cable from the same battery bank to supply the fuse board and all other 12V appliances. The shunt is fitted in series, that is in line, with the main black wire from the battery bank. If there is more than one black wire they need to arranged so that only one cable leaves the battery bank - or you will only read the current going either to the inverter or the fuse board. This one cable may need to be even bigger to take the current of the others. I hope this makes it a bit clearer. Alex

  9. Hi We have done the Ribble a couple of times and although it takes about 2 hours it not a problem. Boats are let out two by two so you will always have company, if you are first down the locks its likely the rest will catch you up. Depth is not a problem on the two rivers - but definitely in the link with its locks it is very shallow at times. I'm sure they will ask for dimensions when you book a passage, also book early as it gets full. Go for it it they say you are not to deep Alex
  10. Hi I know what you are saying but the belt simply sits slightly higher in the pulley and slowly sinks as it wears. Never been a problem. All belts seem to sink into the pulley as they wear. Alex
  11. Hi I fitted one of these - My link - 5 years ago and it has been faultless. Connect shunt into negative as near to the battery's as possible. I only have it reading the domestic battery's. Send me your email and I can send you the fitting instructions Alex
  12. Just make sure you have a spare headlamp bulb! Last summer I tried to fix the headlight of the chap behind me, that turned out to be a blown bulb and he didn't have a spare .(my spare bulb was a different type) He managed to gain passage by having two large torches. Other wise it would have been a return trip to Festival Park, Stoke and a walk to Halfords. Alex
  13. Hi I have the same engine and both belts are the same size ie - 950mm long by 11.9 section available from all motor factors. I like to use 'Gates' belts as they do last longer (but are a bit more expensive) and they come as 13 section - Gates No- 6468MC. Fitting the inside belt is a pain, After taking of the outside belt, you have to remove the water pump pulley to get it to fit. - 4 x allen screws. The alternator wont go far enough forward because it fouls on the water cooled manifold!! Alex
  14. Sorry I assumed that if it was Barrus it would be an electric pump Alex
  15. Hi Are you convinced the pump is working? Maybe you could take a live lead from the battery to the pump? Alex
  16. Hi Usually the diesel is fed to the engine fuel pump, it is then pumped to the injector rail. if the engine is not running then all the fuel returns to the tank from the end of the fuel rail, automatically bleeding the fuel system. You should hear the return fuel entering the tank. If the engine is running only the excess that the injectors don't use is returned to the tank. I would suspect this is an electric pump so you should hear it running when you turn on the ignition. make sure there is fuel pumping at the injectors I hope this helps Alex
  17. This is the one I make up for us every year Feel free to use it if it helps. Print both sides to make an A5 booklet My link My link 2 Alex
  18. I don't know why they don't make baffle plates out of stainless. I had one made for not a lot of money as they are quite simple and I had it made it thicker (10mm?) - it should last many years. Alex
  19. I agree - not every one wants / needs a 2-3Kw inverter/charger costing £1500- £2500, when a £300 model would cover all their requirments. Alex
  20. If you only want a simple / small inverter. I have to recommend the Sterling 1800W , its has given 7 years of faultless service. Alex
  21. Thanks for that but would you have the number I can only find the Trent lock pub. Alex
  22. Has any one any ides what the Trent or Soar is like. Is Sawley frozen Any info would be good Alex
  23. I used This - It does what it says on the tube. After 7 years nothing has moved. Alex
  24. At the back of the panel you need one of These. With a male and female spade attached. Direct injection - no heaters. Replace the air filter when it looks grubby - they can collapse. Alex
