  1. How strong is modern bleach? Bleach I've bought recently seems to be a very diluted version of the Domestos we used to buy. Alex

  5. I was of the opinion that there has to be a date stamped on the fuel tank when it was pressure tested? Alex
  6. Talking of punkturation and spilling. From a teacher -- short and to the point In the world of hi-tech gadgetry, I've noticed that more and more people who send text messages and emails have long forgotten the art of capital letters. For those of you who fall into this category, please take note of the following statement: "Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse." ` Is everybody clear on that? Alex
  7. You need one of these http://www.gscontrols.com/control-panels-2-c.asp Alex
  8. That's a huge journey even over 3 weeks and not much of an holiday. A major problem would be organising passage up the Rochdale, only a few passages a day. From Willington I would head down the Coventry to the Fazeley and have a look at Birmingham. Then onto complete the Cheshire Ring. Still a lot of locks but mostly singles and it will give you time to enjoy your holiday. Alex
  9. It would be simpler and safer to wire it the conventional way, with a pair of wires to each device and fuse them independently at at a fuse board. But that's just me. Alex
  10. Hi If you can see the top of the weir even with water flowing over it, there is going to be a 3 or 4 ft wall below it to crash into before there is any likely hood of going over it. Alex
  11. Towel rails are very over rated as a heater, they are only just good enough for drying towels! if you check the BTU output from a standard radiator you'll find you will need a towel rad at least twice the size of a standard radiator! Alex
  12. Hi Basically they are reliable and simple once you understand them. You need to de-coke them every 1 to 2 years. You must have a good amount of air going in via the fan (check air filter) the fan is most usual cause of a breakdown as it spins at high speed and is in a hot place. You can take them apart (carefully) and re lube the bearings. There must be no blockage in the exhaust. There is a very small fuel filter behind the fuel inlet coupling that can become blocked. You must be sure that there is no air trapped in the system or the thermal cut out will trip (reset by pushing the red spike back in). There is a You Tube video for more information. Alex
  13. I don't know if you have a driving licence but Enterprise car rental will deliver you are car to any where convenient and drop you back when you return. Its also provides a good opportunity to stock up on heavy items from the supermarket on the way home. Alex
  14. Sorry I missed your post #30 - even the greatest minds are not infallible I was focused on all the negative comments towards poor old MunkeyBoy. Alex
  15. Hi I would replace ever thing and start again. Make a list of all the different items you need to supply with 12V Include - horn - head light - shower pump - water pump - lights - sockets etc. Then buy a fuse box with that number of fuses - and a couple of spares. Spade fuses would be good enough. This may be enough or buy two http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-8-WAY-STANDARD-BLADE-FUSE-BOX-WITH-WATERPROOF-COVER-12V-FU25-/271056620208?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f1c3bcab0 Take a pair of red and black wires to each point and at the fuse board connect the live red to one side of the fuse and the black to a common 'bus-bar' connector block. Tape them together with different coloured tape to avoid confusion. Now you must be sure that the cable is big enough ampage to supply each item and fuse accordingly. The mains wires from the battery to the fuse board/ bus-bar must be capable of carrying all the current of all the fuses added together. You will need to connect all one side of the fuse box together (solder a copper link?) and then find a way to connect the battery cable to it. Good luck Alex

Are you really sure about the health hazard. It seems to me they are badly tarnished by this old reputation for causing the Black Death. I have no problem with them, I think they are unjustly maligned. It seems our 'cute badgers' are more of a risk of being vermin. Alex

  18. Hi A flex barb is the one on the second link, to connect flexible hose directly to solid tube. From the picture it looked like the flex was pushed onto the the bit of copper. So really what you need is a simple 4mm to 4mm connector - http://www.tom-parker.co.uk/products_subgroups.php?v=1...&recall=true&products_categories=7&level2=90&products_groups=1460&products_subgroups=1460AA any compressed air supplier will have them, you could take yours as a sample. It would be best to cut of the old olives and start with a new bit of pipe, the olives and/or the tube has been damaged through over tightening. Alex

  20. Hi It all looks like 4mm copper tube fittings which are readily available from compressed air shops. You may well be able to by a 4mm compression fitting to flex barb and avoid the second joint and connection to the flex. See - http://www.tom-parker.co.uk/products_groups.php?v=1...&recall=true&products_categories=7&level2=90&products_groups=1460 And - http://www.tom-parker.co.uk/products_groups.php?v=1...&recall=true&products_categories=7&level2=90&products_groups=3503 Alex
  21. I think you need a simple plate (strongly supported) welded to the weed hatch cover. any thing less will vibrate like a pig against the shell. It can be so bad that you will think the engine is banging on its mounting, don't ask me how I know It has to be tight fit in its hole for the same reason and any thing other than flush will be worse. Alex

  23. I would suggest the Cheshire ring from Stoke on Trent (Black Prince) - a bit of everything. If you have time the Caldon canal is very nice, it even has a bit of river cruising. Alex
