  2. They were on the front of the boat and on the side facing the canal (78p/litr for disel BTW - we filled up from him on the Monday) In fact the owner Brian got his niece to enrol on the signwriting course at the festival to produce a 'coal' sign - the cheek! Tim

  16. Having just done this stretch I can't honestly think of anywhere that could be described as 'unsafe' the first couple of miles out from Autherley prob not that desirable though Some of the popular moorings are 48 hr only but you don't need to move far to be on 14 day. Tim
  17. A few tears ago a regional newspaper printed a supplement on waterways to co-incide with the National which was being held locally. The first line of the front page article included ' the River Avon which flows serenely from Stratford to Bath' Tim
  18. Nicholsons did bring out a Fens/Ouse guide a few years ago, used it going to the National last year - still surprisingly useful (The Rivers & locks dont move!) Tim
  19. Delay your trip a week and take in the Peterborogh Beer Festival - biggest Beer festival in the country after the 'National' Hic Tim
  20. When I first moved to London I made the effort to walk to the end of Oxford Street to where I knew was the location of Marble Arch, Expecting something like the Arc de Triomphe I was bitterly siappointed at the diminutive size of it! Tim
