  1. A M Models has a page for tucana / zodiac http://models.bipolar4all.co.uk/tucana_pics.htm It seems that Tucana was renamed as Zodiac and the original Zodiac was renamed as Deimos! Oh and Deimos is now called Slough!
  2. Tony It's single core, but multi-stranded Surely solid core 95mm cable doesn't exist?

  5. They're quite awkward, you need 1 or 2 extra hands. You've got the extra weight of a large cable to wrestle with and i need two hands to operate the crimpers, which are also heavy.
  6. I bought some hydraulic crimpers from ebay for £35: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HYDRAULIC-CRIMPING-T...=item45f2df2a9f
  7. I had problems with an Ebay ammeter when it was powered from the measured circuit. Powered from a 9v battery, the meter works fine.

  9. Are you powering your immersion heater from your batteries, then charging them with the engine?
  10. Yep, it runs on diesel or kerosene Ely Chandlers sell them for £540 they also have a brochure on the site
  11. I suspect it's Midsummer Energy
  12. It's worth noting that there is currently a restriction at the Nene Valley Railway Bridge (Wansford Station) I don't know if it's completely closed to navigation, but worth checking if you're heading that way. http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homea...ting/38213.aspx

  14. When i took my narrowboat through locks on the thames I was single handed. I got off the boat and used my centre line as normal, plus a stern line to keep the lock keepers happy. With both lines looped around bollards and me in the middle, i could hold the boat as it pulled back and forth as the water level changed. The only complaint i got from the lock keepers, was when i forgot to turn off my engine.
  15. Apologies to the owner of the boat, but i couldn't resist
  16. Many thanks, that explains a lot of things
  17. Limekiln are often cheaper than my local chandlers, even after postage. I ecently bought 5Ltrs of intertuf for £38.95 inc p+p http://www.limekilnchandlers.co.uk/index.p...p;productId=137
  18. Same here. LB used a thin coat of intertuf which had all gone at the waterline after 2 years. As Bill says get a 5ltr tin, give it a generous covering and you'll still have plenty left for touching up. You really need several coats though, so don't leave it too long before doing it properly.

  22. Is the baseplate that is giving you concern? 6mm is thinner than the 10mm that is used on more recent hulls, but it depends on the condition of the hull. A surveyor will be able to check the actual thickness and show if any plating is necessary. I would say that the biggest weakness from corrosion is on the sides of the hull at the waterline, where most boats are 6mm.
  23. How about some exhaust lagging? Either around the flue, the cables or maybe both.
  24. The BW key opens the little door in the green box, this houses the buttons for the bridge. I have a photo which shows the bridge open (you can also see the green box and one of the windlass operated barriers)
