  3. spent quite a few hrs watching the work on boats at langly mill the pubs not that far away so i can walk up with my pint in hand , and the full sailaways he has built , which he sold via sawly marina i had a walk on it while it was their interesting watched him streatch a boat cut it in half and add a new center piece , he appears very savvy with boats and repairs and is a plesant person to chew the fat with , always busy too which is usually a good sign ? , but i guess theirs quite a few like him about thats been a small firm long established catering to the trade etc
  4. silicone sealant , is not that easy to use , as they have said it takes a constant equal slow pressure to get the sealant to flow out the nozzel at the speed your moving the nozzel at , , a bit like welding ? in one sense , but master that and your half way their , you can buy silicone sealant in clear as well as white , but some dont have a fungacide solution in them , get onr that does . id suggest just do a trial run on bit of material so you get the flow principel if you slow down you get a lump the silicones still coming out the nozzel at the same speed ? if you apply more pressure it comes out faster , its a case of balencing the two , get that right and youve saved half the mess already . its a knack you learn with use , same as welding takes a small while to get the hang off it , but its a small skill worth perfecting , silicone is like duct tape , the more you use it the more use you find for it . so take heart , lol . cleaning i just use a wet finger as a lot do then wipe my finger clean , the various small smears you might get , leave the to dry and just wipe over the following day they tend to just peel off , trying to wipe it off while wet just spreds it ? i used the plumbers merchants for my last 2 tubes , they said do you want the cheap £2.00 or the good stuff £5.00 i took the good stuff , i wouldent buy it fron warehouse etc i often tend to think they sell cheap stuff at a dear price , builders merchants etc will have the tradesmen going ape if the gear they sell is not fit , etc ? . you also say the panel moves if you apply pressure thats not good as you carnt force a good seal in , and like any surface your going to paint or glue or seal preperation is vital it needs to be clean . i think most might struggle a bit if the wall moves while your working . ive stuck down a ceramic wc pan onto ceramic floor tiles and its solid , so silican can and will do a lot of jobs very well as you say its learning the odd tip and more so learning the knack , dont be put off the ist time i tried woodworking all i built was a bonfire
  5. wow i managed to get to the end , regardless how all this turns out the damage has been done , it would be nice if it turned out in the end to be sorted to satisfaction of the majority , long term the boating community has taken a knock all round , when one finds a bad apple in the barrel it usually makes one susspect the damage isent one apple the barrel is susspect , confidence takes a knock all round , , id think some future boaters will as such loose a little confidence that the dream is tainted , cautions a good thing as many have suggested use caution in your dealings , but a lack of confidence in the grass roots as such ? the forum has shown that the boating world tends to pull togetheir in many directions to settle on a route that flows in the right direction might take a few posts to agree a course etc . but the cost to me appears to be a lot more than the money lost and the knock on effect will do more damage the forum goes a long way to limit that damage i think it may also be a asset thats crt take's note off , if not thats their loss and its not that easy to write that off it has no value ? but a good manager users a free resource so i think the marinas also follow the ebbs and flows of the forum . the only thing i cannot follow is who is this sparticus person because im getting a bad feeling about just who owns what does sparticuss 1 have any dealings with the otheir spaticuss, ers ? and is the new sparticuss even sparticuss though he says he isent will the real sparticuss just stand up and admitt he is sparticuss personally i think he is the plumber but i might be way of the boil on that one , i am not sparticuss he is , points over their >
  6. you could use a friend with a credit card to pay for you then give them the cash value , ?
  7. no nails is good , as ive found out and silicone sealant , i usually have atube off each the silicone sealant i brought from a plumbers merchants , ( do u want the cheap or good styuff ? ) i had the good , a tenner for 2 tubes , used one to stick a ceramic wc pan down on a tile floor , , held it solid and aunty may is no light weight lady . but it takes a little time to cure , go off , unlike a nail or scew which dont . by the way star did you get rid of yr black google bar ? cause i posted up on yr thread , i got rid of mine .. as for fixinfg the woodwork not to big a job the difficulty is getting a compressor jack hammer a full size wood working lathe , assorted dsocket sets some short rsj,s and a blow lamp , in the back of the car to make sure ive enogh kit to do the job ?
  8. Just a thought is the original poster still in this conversation or getting any help or assistance from us , ( which he may have asked for ? ) or has he decided to go to one of the many and local free placers that offer expert advice on these subjects . The question is why did he come here to post and think he would get ( what ? ) not their to ask , Difficult one though As its problem ( personal facts not known ) solution Thats P ,x ???? + ? =S the obvious and correct answer is y+n =m? squared Yes but no , maybe? maybe How ever in defence of this forum , i find all your posts interesting valid and informative , also a bit exciting as things start to warm up get hot then turn into 50 shades of red , how ever lets not harm the forum or each other we may do ourselves more harm and the op no good . With our help ? Or the op , may have just decided to ignore us 27 posts ago ? But you may cuss me for my post or call me what you wish , i have a thick skin , im difficult to insult , as i cannot catch the nasty drift , i could say im thick or poorly educated , then again i could say i just think most people are OK given the chance but they will make fools of them selfs now and then , my friends expect that of me. So lets all realize its the week end , time to go for a social drink , mines tea but i can run to a pint if you can lend me a pound , Put the week behind us and start afresh tomorrow , i’m not saying don't post as you do , just stand back take a fresh look and perhaps post up Monday with a vengeance , ops i mean fresh perspective . After all the post is about , err i lost track , what was the post about , i think i posted up and i can see the flaws in that post myself , i guess i’m lucky that not too many picked up on it . So that's c+b =f -ps? Chill plus brew = friends minus problem solved ? humm ive pasted up in the wrong formatt again , some one tell me it this font that size ?

  11. yes well i havent as such made a claim for many years and went on the books , but you pay your tax and hhs etc even self employed or 715 etc , but you paid taxers same as every one , was for some reason left out of the claim support ? is the point i was making , as for the ins and outs of the present system ive not requested thats not the point of the post i made , im sure i could get a benifitt advisor if i wished to put in a claim , i dont, but the imformation was correct at the time it applied to me , but thanks for the heads up on whats relivant today humm i take its thats using multi quote ? neat thats quite usefull , must try that ? can u multi multi quote ?
  12. ah sorry , i did it on my office software , ive tracked back through the posts , but when its a long debated subject , were exactly does it say ? so i will try and bear it in mind , wouldent expect yr programme to have a auto standard text , and im not computer literate or any otheir , can you put a post it up , i alterd the text because it was small but bold . i used this software to change it , i also find it difficult to post imagers so i dont as yet . , if i make a mistake again feel free to delete or ignore the post , but i will attempt to comply with the request , i aint perfct you know and ive had a long hard difficult day , still got a smile mind , ive typed this in direct dosent say above what this text is set at ? im assuming its standard forum formatt ?
  13. well if your self employed and pay two lots of stamp , which i did , you carnt get state aid , although they will give your wife and kids a allowence for food , you dont get included , fortunatly i was able to get 2 days work every week , so my " claim was invalid " when i turned up to report no work over several weeks , as they say were theirs a will theirs a way , different strokes for differnt blokes , but i did get a bloke asking me if i wanted to buy a new matress as he had just got one for free off them . as you say though their are genuine casers who need the support .
  14. Ah yes I thought it was a nice video , enjoyed it but didn,t agree with all of it , also enjoyed reading the posts , many good points and some I may have skipped over . But ive enjoyed your input and thank you for that . Quite good coverage all round Also of interest was the 38deg stuff , now im a semi active member and regular receive posts from them , I don’t post on all of them but I do support quite a few , one of interest was the pesticide one , and recently as I had posted to my MP about their pay rise , I actually got up caught the bus up town and sat in the waiting room to add weight to the petition that was handed in , as I had voted on that I didn’t see the MP did not talk to them , but I think it adds some more proper support than just a click of the key board etc. . I would not have voted on this one , but im surprised to find im not aware of it are 38degs are being selective ?. I would like to see their post because if I think their selectively manipulating me I will as such withdraw some support from them , I do not support them financially , I add my time and vote , I can afford that . I’m also aware of issues concerning the less fortunate members and people suffering from medical difficulties , I’ve just spent the last two days dealing with my cars MOT , and I had a person who suffers with bipolar , with me , he has a heart of gold is a nice person , but its kinda difficult dealing with him but I like him he is genuine nice person who puts his self out to help others but its taken us a while to strike a relation ship that works , its difficult , it may be me that,s at fault not him and im just assuming because he has bio polar etc . The other thing apart from 38 deg , and I appreciate finding that out , is that I have written to CRT twice , their supposed to reply within 5 days the second letter they haven’t , although I’ve sent them photos , I've also tried to contact the other party who appears to be on a site within a site and I’ve spent a few hrs. on that , still can’t get a reply as of yet , but I will its a boater problem and as such wont bother me , its a waste of resource’s , and doesn’t effect me , its a damage to your banks , and makes it difficult for you , but doesn’t effect me and its another canal user that’s basically abusing the canal for their personal benefit against all other . Same as the 28 year old parking in the disabled spot and sprinting in to fetch a bottle of milk , bugs me , when I see a 68 year old struggling to walk from the far end of the car park etc. I was originally going to post up in the forum but decided I should put some effort into it myself I found it irritating why pass the problem onto you ? Without making a effort myself ? . so CRT would you please respond and reply otherwise you will be receiving a snotty letter , as I wont be going away . So my cars gone spent all day , got another banger , sorted insurance and sent forms off , been to garage to sort out the squeak , ( might be a mouse I thought ? As I’m not mechanically bent ) but good news it wasn’t a mouse two days gone and my wallets got a IOU in it and a dead moth . And yet more to sort out , but nice to relax and find out my bad two days are not that big a problem compared to theirs .

  16. its abount opinions , and every one has a shared right to them , and id like to hear both sides of the post , as many do , its not about being right and wrong , both are right but i reserve the right to change my mind on that , sometimes you dont need to prove the value of your argument , its a stand alone statement , though im willing to change my opinion on that too , what i find confusing is petes statement above , ive now got to reread all the posts to find a summerise is that any thing to do with sun rise in summer ? as the days are getting short time wise . as ive a short term memory and get confused easy petes just totally buggerd this thread for me

  18. got one but i paid a fiver my tabs were freezing that day , i would have paid a tenner or even worn the cat , my nose was running like a tap but give me a warm feeling and fashion can go take a hike ,
  19. converted my big shed to one a quarter of its size , have scaned all photos in , i actually get to look at them more often ? all music is now mp3 and i get to listen to them more often , ive had regular tip runs and charity shop ones , but its a constant frame of mind to not obtain and hold things apart from tools etc , been a slow long term project still ongoing though ive got a 5hp honda moter in the shed thats not in the way but could go a mark 4 british army cooker that will be going , but paperwork shredded bags of old bills reciets etc and scanned in a lot that needs saving , gave away a complete paintball kit , but serviced the marker first i now have 5 more to to move , though ive got a swop for 2 of them and i think over the next few months , 2 or 3 volumes of stamps , a coin collection . but their on my too do list , and a loft clear out is up comming , its a constant long term battle to let go and also not buy ?. was at melton market started out at 7am , and spent the morning their , temptation the force was strong , so much nice plus shiny plus usefull or just plain nice , and im off to derby market sunday morning , well tea and a bacon cob , plus the magpie in me will be let free to fly , i cannot keep him caged just need to stop him cluttering the nest .
  20. a pictures worth a thousand words , yours might net a milllion , very nice

  22. after reading the post , i was going to try and I.M. you , but dont appear able too ? . how ever i can use this as a means i dont wish to start a thread unless some one has a better idea but i recall years ago some times people would selll a item as a lottery ie 30 x 100 £ tickets , i mean scrap value alone would perhaps make some one a proffit , but more importantly perhaps if some one can rescue her for very very cheap they can afford to invest some of the money they have saved by getting a bargin bargin ? . if one spent a 100 pound on a ticket and 1000 on platting etc and 500 on the engine , shes a sound boat on the river to travel ?. and i guess if shes as such easily moverable on the canal it opens up a much wider market for who ever gets her ? i dont know how you would as such run such a lottery of that type . but if you know the tonnage of steel and as such scrap price , but it might as such convince some one well if it dosent work out etc ??? and perhaps if you had several interested bidders on ebay who were prepared to pay 1,000 to get her they might risk a couple of hundred on the off chance of getting it ? but i susspose you could also as such sell shares in her ? , do a costing and time to get the engine in and hull done , and estimated retail value as a bare sailaway what would could she sensibly bring ???? in ? a lot of people wouldent buy shares on the stock market as such perhaps the boating community would perhaps view it as a worthwhile gamble , or buying a lottery ticket on her ?? she would still be your project as such to bring it back on the canals but without perhaps the back breaking work youve put in and have to do ?? you may just want her gone quick and your cash flow back in and i guess with the time , rent paid up . it might be a rubbish idea for you , but it might be a option , ? so as i say i dident want to start off a discusstion on the ins and outs of doing it , thats for you to as such decide , so by all means you tell me its dead in the water and stop the thing in its tracks . im sure if you think theirs any worth or help in the suggestion otheirs much better informed than myself would perhaps have some input ?

  24. too comercial by far and has been for many years , it has more negative sides than positive ones for many people a lot of hard work and expense when its christmass every day and its your birthday everyday , you can give a gift of help in june and say its a early christmass gift ? or give them a birthday gift any day , if its your time or your help , but you carnt avoid the commercial side of these next coiuple of weeks , its difficult to be thoughtfull for a few days ? and hard not to be caught up i the rush , but i do notice that people in the shops appear to be stressed and rushed . if you enjoy it and get a good feeling from it all then to all those i wish you a very merry cristmass , but if you find it a hard and difficult time of year then i whish you peace and happyness . the real joy of this month to me is that the shorest day is i think the 22cd , it may be a pagon one , but its a real gift granted by nature some times the old ways are the best ways and we dont need otheirs to tell us what will provide real happyness and joy thats a gift we have to find and give ourselfs first . as my grandad said i carnt give you happyness you have to find that in yourself i hope you all find that and if its under a xmass tree then its all good if its not their then somewere sometime theirs a gift for you to give yourself
