  1. So, in effect it's down to 42%. Not bad for 12 year old Li-ions I'd have thought. Newer batteries may require a different charging regime as Alan says (I cannot possibly comment). Personally I shall continue to run my 2011 MacBook mostly on the charger unless I need to be away from a 240V supply. My 3 year old iPhone 6 goes on charge (almost) every night and according to the iOS battery app is still at 95%. I have once managed to run out of charge before bedtime...
  2. They'd better. Or disgruntled customers will sue
  3. Well that b*&&%$s fecks up our plans to hire a boat in Edinburgh and go through to Glasgow then.
  4. We're due a BSS inspection this month and I had a quick look at our fire extinguishers. They have a date of manufacture stamped on them but nothing else I could see that would show whether they would still be effective apart from the little (pressure?) gauge. Is this all that's required?
  5. Were the anodes new when you blacked the hull? I'm not sure if the use of an isolation transformer would affect the rate at which your anodes deplete - hopefully someone with greater expertise can advise.
  6. Quite possibly. Another cost to the NHS that I was previously bearing myself. No wonder there's not enough money.
  7. The good news is the whole system is much more responsive. Malwarebytes discovered and dealt with one problem, some adware that had found its way in. I haven't tried the Viltron website again...
  8. Delighted that you have! I'd like to nominate the OP for an iFixit award (does iFixit do awards?). Beautifully described and illustrated
  9. Somewhat dismayed by this: my medicated shampoo for psoriasis contains coal tar
  10. The iMac has been misbehaving since I first tried the link. I've taken the plunge and updated from 10.9 (unsupported) to 10.11 (still supported even though it's almost 3 years old). This should bring a whole load of security updates and a newer version of Safari so I will see if anything has changed once the system has settled down
  11. In that case it may simply be that my old OS and version of Safari are not compatible. Than you all for your help
  12. Depending on the machine and how competent you feel it might be possible to disconnect some of the heating element. That's the part that draws most of the current.
  13. I originally thought the page was no longer there but in the absence of a 'page not found' message decided to try a different browser
  14. It looks like the Victron website doesn't like Safari since I just get a blank screen (no 404 message) Same applies Happy to report that Chrome works fine
  15. Tautology. But I understand your meaning
  16. Fortunately not. But a salutary tale nevertheless. Sounds promising. I should be able to make some kind of jig to attach it to a cordless drill
  17. I'm sure this will have been asked and answered countless times already: how should I clean the chimney from the solid fuel stove? It's only about 1.5 metres with two annoying little bends at either end so that it leaves perpendicular to the top of the stove and similarly exits the roof.
  18. I have a Pela which I bought for oil changes on my car. Worked perfectly. The downside was the design of the dipstick tube on the side of the block rather than straight through into the sump so it couldn't do what I wanted (completely empty the engine oil). It's now on the boat and will be used to empty the bilges instead.
  19. I'd certainly expect there to be more traffic away from Crick in either direction on Tuesday/Wednesday. Our trip has had to be postponed so we're likely to be avoiding travelling through Braunston the weekend of 23/24 June for the same reasons.
  20. Thanks Martyn, looks like a useful link I'd be tempted to try making one with Sugru. https://sugru.com
