  1. I'd try diesel myself soaked over night. Then coca cola
  2. Most people who have home moorings have to pay for the mooring even when they go for cruising the entire summer. Just the way it is my friend. You can do short term mooring but you won't be guaranteed your same mooring again when you need it someone else could have it.
  3. I've dropped my full casette also at a busy chandlery and grabbed the pull out handle as it fell and covered myself. Not the best of experiences.
  4. Just seen this not the usual stuff posted in here... wasn't quite sure where to put it http://www.vikingmarine.co.uk/boat_sales/kellingley.php
  5. I like them. Would love a sterling one... if its no good to you i will happily take it from you
  6. I'd just put a bit of fabric over it and open the mushroom up some more down that end.
  7. Nor me just a way of them getting blocked easier.
  8. Worst are the ones who raise the rod above your head and dangle the hook above you; I really don't like that.
  9. Most boaters like to try do things themselves and plumbing on boats is quite simple to learn where most of us are capable. So I don't think plumbing is something for you to offer but I do think you have other skills that will make more money like the welding and electrics.
  10. Thanks that's very helpful. The proposed butty is low in the water at the front and the motor is high in the water at the back. I don't think its going to be such a good idea now. It could possibly have worked if I reversed which was going to be the butty but we don't want to do that.
  11. Hi all, Most likely I would cross strap them someway and move them like this mostly. I have a mooring so moving isn't going to be often anyway just when we fancy. We don't want to keep the engine because it has a massive engine room and we want to use it that space. One boat is our home which will eventually be a butty hopefully and that engine room to be a new bedroom. The other motor boat is our work space for our business. We don't want to sell the boat we love to get a real butty; ideally want to turn this into our butty. I am no expert in butty boating though very new to it so its why I'm here finding out what to do and if it should be done. Anyway appreciate your replies
  12. I am hoping I can have the current rudder modified. Would the swan neck be sufficient with a bigger blade on the rudder? Or do I need to get it done like a proper butty? Thanks
  13. I have 2 boats. 60ft & 70ft. I want to take out the engine from the 70ft and get the butty discount. Is it just as simple as remove engine and let CRT know? anyone done this before?
  14. When was that photo taken?
  15. No its more when work is needed not many can do it and its very expensive.
  16. I nearly bought Ian a few years ago. Doesn't look to great now it did have a lovely paint job.
  17. If a new act was passed the canals would be for holidays only and no liveaboards imo.
  18. I managed 45ft ok, but I don't think i'd manage this 70ft to well on my own.
  19. Well most the hooks i've seen used are tiny and even if it did get me I doubt it would do much, Would have to be pretty damn unlucky for it to get right into my eye and then for it to penetrate it considering its probably rusty by now and not even sharp.
  20. Interesting but going to assume she discovered it near where she lives and managed to buy it to fix up and sell on.
  21. Some marinas charge you double the space taken. I don't find costs that different to living in a house. Its a lifestyle choice.
  22. I am interested in this so following the topic. I've got a super expensive fridge but got same problem as you. The cables running through are thin orange so looks like mine can be fixed by doing this too
