  1. By 'wrote-off' you mean somebody made £33million out of BW. It would be an jnteresting audit trail.
  2. I am sorry but this is just not so. I have a 25 foot cabin cruiser for which I buy a yearly license. I keep it in the water around 8 months a year, the rest of the time it is stored in a yard, on a trailer. CRT know this - I told them - and are perfectly happy to issue a license on this basis. It doesn't, but the 'satisfied' and "can be kept" part imply somewhere you could keep the boat if you decided not to cruise for a month (for instance) Who exactly is doing (or suggesting) something they shouldn't do?
  3. I live with a Rayburn which isn't sealed anywhere. Round the flue box, round the hot plate or round the firebox doors. when I start it up, it generally smokes a bit and settles down as the flue heats. What makes the most difference to this process is how long the external chimney or whether it's fitted. I had a 4.5' one which I stupidly left on and lost in the canal. I replaced it with a 3' one and the draw is not so good, if the fire gets a bit low it will smoke, but more important, will set off the CO alarm. Working to Rayburn recommendations, the minimum outside flue would be around 6'.
  4. Off topic, I know, but most of your problems would be solved by a longer chimney. As with all things boat, small differences count.

  11. There is no insulated mounting plate on mine - I see one is listed in the manual but it doesn't appear to be available as a part.
  12. I have this one. it's great for £50. straight swap for your voucher. there's a bigger brother 13mm metal chuck and light but maybe discontinued.
  13. What is fireboard and where can I get it? How did you fix through the tiles?
  14. What can I use, that I can get in a small quantity, to insulate between a Taylor's 079D and a tongue and groove bulkhead? A composite would be fine.
  15. Will you give your personal guarantee that this person is not going to be the subject of violence?
  16. You don't say what fuel you are using. The clay dust from manufactured coal can cause breathing reactions. What fuel do you use and is it worse when you clean the ash pan?
  17. I think you are doing the right thing, calling him out each time. Personally I really can't be bothered to argue.
  18. Yes, if using the connectors to isolate it is wise to do it with care and with dry hands in the dry. 100V or 150V is neither here not there. The precautions are sensible whenever it's done. Most panels I've ever seen say "don't disconnect under load" implying that such disconnection is best done in the dark or after covering the panels. Having said that it's essential, as has been said, to disconnect the panels before the controller and so sometimes it's difficult to follow that instruction. I would guess the precaution is to protect the internal diodes against current spikes. One of the nice things about the more upmarket controllers, Morningstar and Outback particularly is that they enable you to isolate the solar feed, presumably in a way that is safe both to panel and controller.
  19. This. It's getting quite irritating. It's so obvious to me when he's wrong. He will never even think about what he's saying. The confusion engendered amongst those trying to learn is mean and spiteful. Your assumptions are incorrect because that is not what the BSS regulations say. You simply made it up.
  20. Unfortunately that is the overwhelming impression gained from silly arguments. It certainly is spoken of in glowing terms; "He had no doubt that those who are graduating today will add further luster to the illustrious record of IETE which enjoys enviable reputation for academic excellence and course curriculam" I hope that its ambassador in England makes up in luster [sic] what he lacks in knowledge.
