  1. Do you have a crane at your yard, what costs are there on top of the below? Boat lengthening per FT £695.00You need to decide how much you want your boat stretched, then the boat will be cut at the preferred point and the new section added, steelwork will be finished in red oxide primer and the hull will be re-blacked. Thanks
  2. I lasted about 10 minutes... all abuse and not much boaty stuff.
  3. Very much this! Mr Steve Jay is very much a hater of everything CRT, him and the floater are a little tedious.
  4. So why has the op registered with two names?
  5. Tow the clothes behind you, a full days cruising should be enough to shift most stubborn stains!
  6. Post 63 shows them, apparently at hartshill, i am putting my money on the photo being took from bridge 32.
  7. Thinking about dating this, i am sure that telegraph poles used to run all the way up that stretch, i have seen old photos of telegraph poles running through Nuneaton and hartshill, plus there is one left standing near tuttle hill moorings, this photo has none so i must have been early 1800s ?
  8. Have been trying to find out how old the yard is, but all i can find is mention of a fire and documents being lost. I know the canal used to run under the house that is now built into the bridge, next to the water point, i think they used to load boats from above, the chap that lives there will show you the basement if you get chatting to him.
  9. You visited there before you had the lift out, and comment on them looking like cowboys and you would look elsewhere. The old saying of trust your gut instinct springs to mind.
  10. moor at the visitor moorings, just past boot wharf if heading towards Coventry, then walk down the road and through riversley park, enterprise is on the edge of the Park, its about 20 mins max. you can park in any of the side streets close to boot wharf, plus you can go into the three horseshoes and sample the lovely ales! https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Enterprise+Rent-A-Car,+107-115+Attleborough+Rd,+Nuneaton+CV11+4JQ/@52.5169156,-1.4643584,15z/data=!4m6!1m3!3m2!1s0x48774e1ec6a4c517:0xb32f7947ebefa587!2sNuneaton+Vehicle+Rental+Ltd,+15+Seymour+Rd,+Nuneaton+CV11+4JD!3m1!1s0x487751fcd357f289:0x26605263ba656af8
  11. if they did, then they built it from extremely good steel!
  12. yup, and I have never seen a boat moored there!
  13. yeah I found that yesterday, its a good walk from the canal though, in fact I remember walking over there with my dad about 20 years ago...
  14. i was thinking of popping over on the weekend, if you go down apple pie lane, there are boats moored on the offside, you will see on google maps, might be worth taking the photo and asking if you can have a look from the bank, i would suggest back towards the house, away from the bridge with a house on.
  15. i think everyone has the right to build, create any structure they desire, be it a house or boat, so the snobbery of how it looks is a little out of order. The claims they are making about being fully self sufficient annoy me.
  16. I agree with this! When cruising past the canal narrows very slightly, at the first boat on the moorings, outside the little bungalow, i believe a bridge was here some time ago, i also believe it was before the yard was built, which i think was in the 1840's ?
  17. How does that make an introvert? I quite like sitting in the pub with other people.
  18. Makes getting there a little more interesting... http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/rugby/canal-boat-transport-wasps-fans-13462298 Text from site, as its full of crappy advert pop ups. Wasps rugby fans can drift by the pre-game traffic by catching a water taxi to the Ricoh Arena this season. The Living Environment Trust has announced the return of its ‘Water Buzz’ to transport fans to home games aboard The Coventrian Narrow Boat. Wasps rugby fans can drift by the pre-game traffic by catching a water taxi to the Ricoh Arena this season. The Living Environment Trust has announced the return of its ‘Water Buzz’ to transport fans to home games aboard The Coventrian Narrow Boat. Fans will then have the opportunity to take a trip down to the canal for every home game throughout the team’s Premiership and European Champion’s Cup campaigns. Raffaella Tentindo, of the Living Environment Trust, said: “We have seen great demand for this transport service since we started to run it on Wasps rugby match-days. “Last season was a record attendance year for fans coming to watch Wasps home games at the Ricoh Arena, the matches have become huge showpiece events in the Coventry calendar. “If you’re looking for a unique and relaxing way to get to the games then this is definitely it, you can beat the crowds, drift by the traffic and still arrive with plenty of time to kick-off. “It’s a great opportunity to talk with fellow fans and really get that ‘buzz’ before you’re even in the stadium. “We’re delighted to have made this available for another full Wasps season. We’re expecting a lot of interest and I would encourage those thinking of joining us on The Coventrian to book their places early.” There will be a fully licensed bar aboard The Coventrian and passengers who board at Canal Basin will get a free pork and stuffing bap. Profits from the hire of The Coventrian Narrow Boat go to the development of The Living Canals Project. Tickets from Canal Basin are priced at £10 with a 10 per cent discount for Wasps season ticket holders. A journey from Hawkesbury Junction is priced at £5 (no season tickets discount applies). A full list of cruises to Wasps games is available at www.covsf.com. To find out more information and for bookings call 024 7682 4022 (or 024 7663 08244) or email coventrian@covsf.com.
  19. I dont understand why CRT want non boaty people to visit the waterways, i dont really see what it brings, they dont spend any money! They are really pushing this on social media at the minute.
  20. I wish i could go cruising, drinking and eating, scoring pubs.... What a life.
