  1. Whatever you want can be done. Dependant on 3 things. 1. Your imagination. 2. Your hand skills.(woodwork, metalwork, plumbing, electrics etc.) 3. Your ability to pay. More so if 2. is limited! Bod
  2. Dependant on how old your batteries are, you may have nowhere near 1200AH capacity, that is usable. How often, and how long do you charge up the batteries? Advice given to fit a Smart Gauge is very good, fit one, let it settle down for a few days, of normal use,and charging. You may be very suprised at the result! But remember the Smart Gauge will tell it as it is! Like the result, or not. Bod
  3. If you do have an out of water survey, take many photos, of the hull, they will be useful, for comparision at later blackings. Bod
  4. Plenty of cars coming in this morning. Bod

  6. What was/is in the tank now? Remember all that, will have to be carried out through the rest of the boat. It's one thing thinking about removal, but a brave job doing it! Steel tanks have been known to be in good condition, even after years of service, if built into the structure, will have to be cut up, in place. Good luck Bod
  7. Do recall an idea,to put an extra water tank on the roof, a few years ago? Bod

  9. You are aware that wide-beams cannot travel the whole system? Bod

  13. Be aware, all work you do, will have to be up to Boat Safety Scheme standard. Or with a sailaway, R.C.D standards.(+B.S.S standard) A lot of homework! Well worth doing for the right boat. Good Luck Bod
  14. Yes, it does seem a strange anomaly, that those who use the system most, pay less. Bod
  15. Thanks springy, thats the site I found. Just need to discover which connections for which measurment! Any one interested in one for spare/repair, I can't fathom out how it works. Bod
  16. As a result of attending a carboot sale, I am now the owner of one of the above. Does anyone know, or have an instruction manual for how to use it? Google, has told me, it cost £16 in 1950,(2-3 weeks wage?) but not how to use it! Hopefully Bod
  17. Hi Tim Have you added anything to the fuse board? Extra circuits, shower waste pump, lights, extractor fan, connected to run with water pump? What happens when the kitchen sink taps are used for a long time? Are all the new battery connections good? Bod
  18. Specific gravity readings from each cell will show the different levels of charge across all the cells. What your looking for, are ones that are different, from the average of the rest. The float should be at about the same level for all cells, bad cells will float lower, if at all. One low cell, will render that battery duff, and will need to be removed/replaced. Good news a Hydrometer is cheap!,<£10 from a good motorfactor. Bod Ps. This won't find your high use items, but will check your battery health! Putting good charge, into duff batteries, = time & money wasted. Pss. This is how I found my batteries were u/s. Smartgauge was showing 100%, but would drop quickly, one cell was shorted internally, and sucking charge from the others. 1 cell floated very low, others were fine.
  19. Just to ask a question, have BigCols specific gravities been checked? Also the water levels in all those batteries. Bod
  20. It was dry and warm all 3 days last year. Bod
  21. If you had an On-line mooring from C&RT, you would be liable for full Council tax. Share a marina with several others, with the marina operater able to relocate, your mooring at will, you would not be liable for Council Tax. Have I got that right? Bod
  22. Nah, put one end in the stove, when its short enuff, quick dunk in the cut. Bod
