  2. Vulpes has got a lot of character to say the least. A lovely little boat with a great deal of charm and eccentricity.

  4. Look for a boat with a wood burner and comfortable chairs.

  7. Well done you. I could crochet before I could knit but since taking up knitting I find I haven't been able to crochet. Please post reports, it would be great to see it grow.

  12. I'll second The Bookbinders. We ate there twice last year and the food was lovely. I think the beer must have been good otherwise we wouldn't have gone back no matter how good the food.
  13. I'm always happy to raise a paddle if a boat has let us overtake, in fact I'd much rather do that than go forward to help as I get frustrated with inefficient boating (ie not winding paddles down while the boat is leaving the lock, holding up the pawl when raising a paddle etc) and may appear to be a bit bossy.

  16. We got very wet today on the Soar. We were lulled into leaving the mooring by a break in the rain which lasted long enough for us to cast off and get into the first lock. Got drenched but then an hour or so later the sun did emerge. I am however still cold and damp and would luuurve to have the fire going even if it is just to stop everything feeling so damp. 17. We had a brilliant weekend, thanks to Fulbourne for the ride on Sunday. I know Lemontoes really appreciated it too even if she was away from her stall for a bit longer than planned. Also multitudinous thanks to the Tawny Owls for putting up with us and putting us up, it was really good fun. Nice to meet new forumites and catch up with old friends.
  18. TRW nearly at the Blue Bell. Change of plans, guess why!
  19. Well done Tawny Owl and her gallant crew.
  20. TRW now at HB. Lovely morning. Looking forward to starting the beer!
  21. We breakfasted well at Windmill End on asparagus, hollondaise sauce and crispy bacon. Now behind about 3 other boats just emerging from the tunnel.
  22. Good morning. TRW at Merry Hell drinking tea and wondering how to piss off guy who ran genny 'till 11pm. Wasn't us that did for Spon Lane, it was all working when we were there yesterday.
  23. Captain Bligh headed for pub. Ships cat and chief cook and bottle washer can't face the walk.
