  1. What happens around here, is they see another boat coming and are usually going at a fair wack. So they panic, ram the boat into reverse which makes the front swing round and usually end up in either the trees or another boat. It comes as quite a surprise when you suggest they may like to power off first.
  2. I did try the no dog on the bed rule, failed miserably! Still no chance of being murdered in my sleep! As they aren't around for that long, I don't get hung up about it, as its my boat and my rules, I have no one else to answer to!
  3. Sorry to hear about this, I am alarmed at the increasing amount of dog bites being posted on facebook at the moment. There has even been reports of a boaters dog, who having "attacked" several dogs has even bitten an owner as well, locally. Although its often instinct, try not to put your hands in to part them, usually ends up badly(guess how I know this!). Hopefully the little chap will mend well.

  5. I don't tend to have this problem ,in fact I have had people go to moor behind me and then suddenly change their mind at the last minute!!!!
  6. I live on a 50 foot boat with 2 large dogs and a cat. She has a "traditional" stern, the space above the engine is where the largest one lurks! Then a very large galley(nearly 10 foot), which contains all the electrical stuff you are not supposed to be able to run off grid! Next is large seating area with tons of storage, wood burner, comfy chair and desk to sit at/read /use computer.(app 12 foot). My bathroom area is also large with full height wardrobe and tons of storage. The only place I compromised was the bedroom. No floor space as the bed is a full double with the head being at the pointy end of the boat. There is storage under the raised bed, another full height wardrobe storage in the steps and cupboards along the wall next to the bed. She doesn't suit everyone but I needed the space and had to work with what I had. People who come aboard are often surprised with how big she feels. I often dream of slightly more space and less dog hairs!
  7. My bed has slats in it and slabs of kingspan and no damp.

  9. Just got the email! It's got to be done, now we know what we should be doing!!!
  10. I'm self employed and "bought" a new phone on Saturday! I talk a lot on mine, part of the reason I have one, most business's get free calls to other phones in the company. As none of us know who /what this guys was actually doing on his new phone, we will have to guess! All they need is a cigarette lighter and a 12v charger (most new phones now use a usb connection).
  11. Conkers are supposed to work, but then if you have spiders I was also told your boat wasn't damp!

  13. Best get rid of mine then as well as my ghd staightners!! As I have used both of these off grid for over 5 years, I beg to differ! Besides which, I will not be told what I can and can't use on my boat.

  15. I have a battery/12v shower that came from a camping shop for around £20. I drop the pump either in a bucket or the canal and wash them off outside. Unless they really stink and then they go into the shower. My guys have tons of hair and the gulper is still going 5 years later.
  16. I seem to have failed miserably at my one in, one out system!!

  18. Got these all over the boat and they are great if you just want a background light. I have also got the motion activated ones for the wardrobes, but these only work if you don't stuff it so full the sensor is covered!

  22. God knows but it was fitted to the boat from new! Was just surprised that a 3 year old boat that hadn't been used on hook up and had one of these fitted was more pitted than my 28 year boat!!
  23. A large bunch of keys have been found this afternoon at the waterpoint and handed into the office.
