  1. Many thanks to all above, a weight of my mind. Now to find the crush washers!
  2. Ok here goes Got a banjo connection that feeds diesel into my engine. Its the main feed from the fuel tank. Now it's leaking so I'm replacing the copper crush washers. Now the bolt is hollow along its length but it also has a hole horizontally across the bolt going thru the "hollow tube " this hole or two holes about 5 mill in diameter Does this hole or holes have to align with the the fuel pipe going into the fitting, or will the fuel still go thru if it's not exactly aligned. Sorry I've not explained this too well! My problem is that I have to nip up the washer nice and tight and this tightened position may not correspond with my holes being in line with the pipe.
  3. Many thanks all. I've found an old tub of Barrus Shire 15/40 API CD in the bowels of the cruiser stern. Think I will go with this as it seems my old oil recommendation is obsolete. The API tables are confusing and mean less than I thought they did. I will stick to a decent brand name and change before recommended interval. Good response to the post...always a pleasure to post on here.
  4. Cheers Alan, this one seems the closest yet!
  5. Yep just checked manual, APICC

    Oil

Hi all Won't start the what engine oil thing as it's been done to death. I've a manual for my Thorneycroft/Mitsubishi 80 series which takes the guesswork out! It says I need an SAE 10W-30 oil. OK so I go on Halfwords site and can't find one of this exact type. Is there a modern equivalent? Or is there a reliable brand elsewhere of this type? PS It's a mineral APICC. Many thanks in advance.
  7. SORTED! Went to b and q... checked the PVC pipe, no good as I thought. Then spotted a washing machine outlet hose, it's now fitted and works a treat. £3 was all it cost. Very flexible and the rubber ends fit the outlet pipe and pump perfectly. Bought a second one incase I want to extend further. Thanks for the input all Splendid site
  8. Going into town now to check if the stuffs flexible enough. If not then I will go the rubber route!
  9. Doing now Alan, many thanks.
  10. Outlet nozzle Alan, so could be rubber. Not under any great pressure and not gallons of water at a time. Racking my brains as to a supplier, don't think the sheds or halfwords do it!
  11. Never thought if that!
  12. Morning all. I've got some PVC hose on my bilge pump under my stern gland. The hose is very strong BUT not very pliable I'm extending he hose and wire so I can place the pump in various parts of my cruiser stern I need a hose that's thinner and more flexible. Any ideas? Pump nozzle and outlet for approx 20mm.
  13. Good morning all. Has anyone got a narrow boat or cruiser painted in 'Oxford Blue' I would be very grateful for pictures of said boat specifically in this colour. Many thanks Monty
  14. Love this site, you get answers to questions you've not even asked! But I've taken on board advice given and just stripped back a 2 foot square section with a sander. I'm starting with the non slip area. Contrary to advice given on my mooring the coarse pad had taken paint back to steel on the edges which arnt anti slip and made a decent job of taking the non slip areas down to an over paintable finish.I'm not going down to bare metal , I'm not too bothered about a mirror finish. The paint work I'm down to is sound . I may very well need a dozen sanding pads thou! And a couple of spark plug wire brushes for the rails. Many thanks all.
