  1. AFAIK it is on hard standing. Other than the potential hassle of entering the premises and arranging cranage - what are any other implications? I will speak to the receivers in the morning and ascertain the state of play.
  2. Some insight into what their thoughts might be would help. To be honest, our primary concern is getting the boat out with keys etc etc
  3. I think we may have had a lucky escape - one of our boats is there and the sale was in process but thankfully we hadn't signed anything over. If anyone can obtain for me the number stated on the door that would be appreciated.
  4. Rob - when was the last time someone was seriously injured as a result of equipment failure aboard a UK inland hire boat?
  5. Duncan Bannatyne would say 'This is a lifestyle not a business and as such I'm out' Hiring boats btw also falls into this category for those who think it makes zillions
  6. They must be mad! Given that Groupon take 50% of the price they are giving these breaks away. Would also like to know how they can guarantee 2 full bottles of gas on each hire without ending up with loads of half empty bottles.

  9. I stayed at Roydon Marina's motel last week for 2 nights. Absolutely fab.
  10. We have Salamander Hobbits in both our boats and they are great.
  11. I wouldn't mess with her no matter how good her cream cakes are
  12. Working in the office at home this morning and been a busy day for the L&L with 11 passing boats seen so far. Our boat is moored at the end of the garden. 4 went past on what I would call 'tickover' - 2 private, 2 hire The remainder all went past at 'cruising speed' - ALL PRIVATE! One of which was a brand new looking wide beam on full chat. Another was a boat who shouted 'slow down' at us last year when they thought we were hirers (and we were actually on tickover)
  13. Totally agree. We had a Beta 43 in a 57' hire boat. Never missed a beat and went like stink on the river!
  14. Walk - even if it is cheap it could be a pain to sell on even if you have no trouble.
  15. Hope all goes to plan. If it doesn't there will be others.
  16. 60' should be ok. My mate has a 64 on the L&L which is a bit like a 60' on the Calder and Hebble
  17. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/hyndburn/oswaldtwistle/11458069.UPDATE__Body_found_in_canal_in_Oswaldtwistle/ Not a nice experience, I am sure.
  18. Wow! 64 plate new toy - that won't have come cheap.
  19. Was it Woodnook Lock by any chance Martin?
  20. This reminds me of a boat recently for sale locally. It looked ok to the untrained eye. A string of potential buyers had surveys done by a string of surveyors until following verbal abuse from the owner towards the surveyors for 'dissing' his boat most refused to attend. Eventually it was sold to a couple who had: 1) Never been on a boat before 2) Didn't have a survey done 3) Set off towards the Calder and Heb without....... a) Anchor Handspike c) Handcuff key d) Windlass I wonder if it is still floating?
  21. It will be treated as an EOG so half the cost of the nearest CRT online.

  23. A tough lock indeed. Even with just a gentle crack of the paddle it still managed to have the boat bouncing around. Sounds like a bit of innovation has hit CRT land which can't be a bad thing.
