  1. I wouldn't do it. I think it would get blocked up too easily and as said above I'd never have anything below the waterline that wasn't flush with the hull, too easy to get damaged. I assume you already have a filter inside the boat? K

  4. Only if it gets seasick, otherwise if you're a liveaboard why not other than you may find the cage takes up more room than you realise. K

  6. I can't see it happening, the site isn't all that big and the new flats (across the road) have actually gone down in value from when they were built 3 or 4 years ago, plus if they did there would be no access to the aquaduct on that side. K

  9. According to the manual it's 50 Watts
  10. The opening times for the visitors centre are here, I guess the days when trips are available are the days when the lift is open. K https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/Anderton-boat-lift/visitor-information/opening-times-and-prices-march-2015
  11. If you have car type sockets then to charge up usb stuff get one of the lighter to usd sockets from poundland, for ...£1. Asda sell an inverter plugs into a car lighter socket output at 230V 70watts enough for a laptop, awesomely they were selling them for £3.75 a few months back (I saw it on a thread on here) I bought a couple and they work fine, they still had them in store last week (in Runcorn) but they're £15 now. Try googling Budgie Smugglers you'll find a lot of them in Australia K
  13. Does "Im looking into opening a mobile shop situated along the side of the grand union canal" so does along the side mean in a van parked next to the canal or from a boat in the canal? K
  14. Eyebolts every time, on the roof the rope is too likely to slip out of a fairlead. It's only on hole to drill and you can take them off we you come to sell. Fairleads work well horizontally but there're not really designed to work with a near vertical rope. K
  15. http://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/aqua100f%2f1-80/candy-aqua100f180-freestanding-washing-machine and good? K
  16. It's good paint they're selling off cheap, I would guess painting outside woodwork black isn't anything like as popular with white upvc being used for everything these days, black is no longer the new black, white is. K
  17. I used this stuff, 2-3 years on and it seems to be holding up fine but it is only a small gap between 2mm and 5mm. K http://www.screwfix.com/p/mapei-mapeflex-firestop-1200-c-high-temperature-sealant-grey-300ml/25153
  18. I've no idea about the Lidl one but their stuff is usually pretty good. I would recommend the Wickes one (same price, link below) it's awesome at sucking up water and you can use it as a blower too. 19. Firstly £370 as has been said is a lot of money for a tin box, I'm sure you could get something better fabricated for the same money or less. On Old Goat's comment where does it say in the BCS regs the locker has to be gas tight. Mine isn't and it's passed twice (last time 6 months ago) and it's never been mentioned. I don't think I've ever been on a boat where the gas locker had and sort of seal on it just a lid/cover that sits on top. You may well be right but it's not something I've heard of before. K
  20. Would Dean/GoodGurl or whoever please just end this now. Did the boat need a licence, was it on an exempt mooring, have C&RT exceeded their authority? Who the hell knows, it's just become pointless, slag Dean a bit, point scoring nonsense. No one apparently knows the facts or at any rate is prepared to disclose them so let's end it before it goes further down the...let's say line. K
  21. So 5 litres for £5 and 2.5 litres costs £10, half as much for twice the price Have you been sniffing the paint thinners I'm guessing it's the other way round, bargain, thanks for the tip I need some for the house (summer job) but at that price. K
  22. You said "Its a company that doesn't exist." and posted a link to prove it, in fact the company is listed there. I see no claim to be a director or owner of the company being made by Tony in his signature "A. K. Dunkley, Canal & River Transport Services, Nottingham (Est. 1968). I was just correcting your factual inaccuracy K
  23. His company is listed on your link if you care to look propely Company results for "canal river" Showing 1 to 10 of 26 Company results CANAL & RIVER TRANSPORT LTD Not Verified Active - 09084892 WESTON WHARF SALT WORKS LANE, WESTON, STAFFORD, ST18 0JE
  24. Not if there's too many boats waiting that you miss the 10 minute slot have to wait another hour, it doesn't happen often but late afternoon Friday is the busy time. A lot of people get off work early on a Friday and are heading out of the marina around that time. I'm moored there and Friday around afternoon/ teatime is a traffic jam same on Sunday evening. There's a queue for the stop lock too then the other tunnels to negotiate, you will get to Anderton but it did take me 5 hours (2pm to 7pm) and needless to say that was a Friday. K
  25. Try a different type of coal, I've tried a few but never used Blaze and I've never had a problem like yours, as you imply it's not a one off them it doesn't sound like a bad batch. K
