  1. Thank you. That's going in the book of dad jokes. Suitably bad!
  2. Can't resist.... How to spot and differentiate... One is weasily distinguished, t'other stoataly different! BOOM TISHSH!
  3. Emojis from the keyboard in my phone.
  4. I have a 32 ft narrowboat with a honda 20 outboard, it makes it highly manouverable. A joy to reverse. I fitted a high thrust prop, for slower and heavier boats (compared to a rib etc). As for electrickery to charge the battery, if I run for a few hours it puts out a decent amount, I have all led lights, I am going to fit solar too, then there will be no problems.
  5. Well! None of my emojis are terrorist ones, smuggling home made code in a back pack. They used to work, they work on other sites. Maybe I'll stick to being a chip shouldered sweary wierdo clique member.
  6. I'd post several crying with laughter emojis but I'm not allowed. Maybe the new site is rubbish, very picky and canal. Sorry auto spell will insist on adding that extra c.
  7. Yes, so why can't I post an Emoji from my phone?
  8. I thought the burka covered up the slot?
  9. What's wrong with my emojis? A lot less faffing about!
  10. It won't let me post them from my phone "character not allowed" or some such message, deleted them and it posted ok, I'll try again.... No joy "The value entered includes a character that is not allowed such as an Emoji." Grrr.
  11. My boat is 32ft, cost has risen by 28% to £314 including ppd. Mooring "Warland lock 35/36 is one lock down from Rochdale Canal Summit, certainly the highest broad canal mooring, I know of no "ordinary" moorings on the Huddersfield that high, only the trip boat. I know it's relatively cheap but 28%, comparing it to a mooring with full facilities 10 miles away is extracting the urine (I must remember which site I'm posting on (insert a laughing emoji of your own, mine have been censored (cross emoji)). There are 3 other moorings here. Before the new regime came in they were the cheapest moorings on the network, I came across that in a Canal magazine.
  12. Just had a letter giving reasons for the 28% increase in my offside mooring fee. Apparently the towpath side site that they were comparing it to, The Pickering and Arnold site near Hebden Bridge, has closed, so they are now comparing it with Hebden Bridge moorings @ £66pmpy+vat. A place with water and sani point, shops, a dry dock etc. My mooring is 10 miles away, at the Summit of Rochdale Canal, 4 hours to the nearest water/sani point. They've asked if there are any private moorings around so I've sent off the info, the Calder Valley Cruising Club at Callis Mill charge approx £40pmpy. I've had an acknowledgement and my email has been forwarded to Jenny Whitehall and David Halliwell, both at the top of the mooring food chain. I'll keep you updated. 13. Renewed my Mooring permit just now by Phone. I was told that they won't be sending a mooring permit out, there's no need to display it. I asked whether that was the case with the boat licence as I had heard otherwise and was told, No, licence must be displayed. So at least thats one bit of carp I no longer have to clutter my window with.
  14. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  15. They also said that you had "been in the general area ", not "in one place", I hope you ask for further clarification so you don't fall foul inadvertently in the future. How big is a general area? How far do you have to move before you are out of it?
  16. A Finch is a bird, a Fletcher a maker of arrows.
  17. Rustoleum.co.uk rustoleum combicolor, can go straight on to bare steel. Done my boat with it, recommended by a friend who frequents Mini fora.
  18. Re fuel and refuelling, there's an android app or Google maps for fuel stations, a folding bike with carrier is a good thing. I've done several long journeys, always had an outboard motor. Fill up whenever you see a garage near the canal, otherwise occasionally I've had to cycle or walk a couple of miles. Sounds like a fun trip. Go for it.
  19. There's always New Islington a few locks up the Rochdale. Are you coming up the Bridgewater or the Ashton? If the Ashton then new Islington is only 2? Locks away from piccadilly basin. Good facilities.
  20. Also works on drummers, bass players and accordionists!

  21. Where, looked in "for sale" can't see it, interested.
  22. An update on the flooding towpath on the flight into Todmorden. There's now a huge overflow channel just before lock 24 at Bacup Rd, top of Gauxholme, so excess water coming down the cut from Summit will go into the river, not down the flight. It didn't flood when we went down just after Christmas. It only ever flooded for a few minutes anyway, and was always passable in shoes with a hop, skip and jump. I think the environment agency have put the overflow in to mitigate flooding. I reckon the valley between Todmorden and Hebden Bridge will just flood quicker now.
