  1. If it's anything like the Scancom 3 SIM there are no restrictions. Remarkable deal. Despite my home broadband on 3 running until December 2025 I just spotted this SIM https://amzn.eu/d/ifFpjFw With the extra 10% I was offered it's £67.50 for 500gb a month until November 2027. That's under £2.50 a month. Hopefully I can live with 500gb, that's over 16gb a day 🫣

  6. Just a note All SIM must work in both phones and routers. It's been law for a few years now.
  7. There are 4g routers that are 4x4 mimo, most of the higher end Huawei ones are. Most 4g routers only bring one pair of antenna out to the sockets on the back so run in 2x2 when in a steel box even if they are capable of 4x4 the B818 does this as that only brings the low band out on to the external sockets. Most 5g routers* only bring one pair of the 5g antenna out to the sockets on the back so if no 4g available on the internal antenna there is no 5g either. This means that without modification and external antenna when enclosed in a steel box most routers do not give their best. *I think the NR5013E is unique in the fact that it brings 4g and 5g antennas to the sockets. No because that was my phone not a router. However it does show that on the same device 5g is not always that much better than 4g. This is in a location where I can get workable 4g and 5g reception with NO antennas connected at all.
  8. Sheridan Marine used to be / still are the go to place for water motor spares. https://www.sheridanmarine.com/watermota Freeman cruisers is the same place company. https://www.freemancruisers.com/faq/question/89/
  9. Even that has been dumbed down and is now weaker than it used to be 😟
  10. "A barge is a flat-bottomed boat, typically used for transporting freight, especially on canals and rivers. They are usually long and can carry heavy goods or passengers. Barges can be towed or self-propelled, and their size and beam can vary, with some being too wide for certain canals. " Seems to cover narrow boats, not sure about fibreglass cruisers.
  11. I only just realised that😱
  12. It's a close run thing here: Upload speed is better
  13. That's one thing I don't miss about living on a boat, even though we had Aircon in parts of them.
  14. Apart from the B818 which is very good at aggregation.🤔
  15. The joy of being in the South West on the coast it's only just above 20degC down here, Still humid mind.
  16. Maybe a 1p mobile SIM to test EE first. Link to penny 😉
  17. But sometimes very necessary I have gone from sub 2Mbps to over 60Mbps by just changing bands
  18. A thought if you have a Huawei 4g router, there are apps available to allow you to disable bands thus forcing the router to use other bands. For example B20 is the most commonly used band in rural areas as it has the greatest coverage. However B1 and 3 may have faster speeds but the router connects to B20, disabling B20 forces the router to use 1 and 3. Software is Huactrl which is a paid sub https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.thecoder.huactrlpro Or LTE manager which is free but not available from play store. https://apkpure.com/lte-manager/manager.lte Here's the rub for @blackrose the mast I suspect he is on nr9312 only has band B3 and 20 I suspect because of this his options are limited on 3😲 EE mast 20315 is co sited with the 3 mast. There is a huge amount that can be done on 4g with the correct software to manipulate the router.
  19. Yes and Amazon is still the easiest place to get them.
  20. Even if you are not on full time Scancom is cheap. We have an 80gb/month SIM bought a month ago on special offer. It runs out Jan 2027 cost me £44.99. Being away once every month between March and October apart from August that's 14 months use at £3.21. try getting that much data for that price elsewhere. Only downside for us with Scancom is that the SIM doesn't work outside the UK😟
  21. That's fair and fine. Burn smelly fuel and you get hit with restrictions. Burn smokeless fuel and you don't.
  22. No it's not speed restricted I have the same SIM and get over 200Mbps from mine and that's whilst streaming UHD TV😲 I have seen 300Mbps before now
  23. Remember the days of the glasses that were a pint to the line not the brim. You could then get a pint plus a head in a glass and not 500ml plus a head as it is now.
  24. Hobby boats I totally agree. However if you live on your boat then the costs can be offset as part of living expenses, after all you would be paying something wherever you lived unless you were on the streets.
  25. Depreciation, pah In over 40 years I have never sold a boat for less than I paid for it, most went for between £5k and £40k more.....
