Just heard that last night 22nd the Josher " LUPIN" was set fire to at Hillingdon Narrowboats base at Harefield

The back cabin is completely gutted along with the engine room .

Don't know much more yet but it is a suspected arson attack

 

The owner is ok and thankfully nobody was injured

Will know more tonight, my thoughts are with Dave who now faces a long uphill slog to get his boat looking right again

The cabin was built by Kevin Bull in the early 90's and was steel so not original

This is very sad news for all concerned. Lupin is one of the old boats you notice out on the cut.

I think you may be mistaken when you even consider that they are capable of thinking.

 

On a lot Less serious note, we met a boater while we were out who use to live in Liverpool. One day in some parkland he stopped kids throwing stones through windows only to be confronted by a parent who said "whats wrong, there only breaking a bit of glass"

It has been said on the "cyclist in the cut" thread that a gradual decrease in the levels of crime from those in Victorian times to today has occurred. This may be true but I continue to be amazed that, in 150 years or a great deal more, society has not come up with a way of eliminating this sort of mindless, destructive behaviour. The amount of grief and expense incurred by people who are at the receiving end of this sort of thing can only be guessed at by the rest of us and I'm sure the culprits don't give a f*>k.

Condolences to the recipients in this case and I'm relieved that nobody was hurt.

It's an unpopular opinion but I dare say society is responsible for preserving it. What consequences are there for these actions? What can we do to them that isn't frowned upon. The phrase 'Two wrongs don't make a right' comes to mind. Two wrongs may not make a right but the second will sure as hell make someone think before the third.

These sort of 'attacks' tend to be opportunist. They got in, and they could set fires. We cannot send them to Australia, they wont have them anymore so how about they are made to fully repair the damage. It will teach them some skills and keep them off the streets.

Now now we cna learn something from Australia, what we need to do is take them out and drown them so they can't come back in a few years time and challenge us in Rugby.

Just wanted to confirm, is this the same Lupin as the Ex FMC boat?

 

i bought my first cabi cruiser from a guy in High Wycombe, his name is Adrian ..... (cant think of his surname). he said he was involved with a boat called Lupin and that it is a ex FMC boat, does Adrian come on here? do i have the right boat?

Yep that's the one... full length unconverted Josher, Lupin. You can see a picture of the boat on this website.

I think it's horrible the way people can just wander round setting people's homes on fire, just for kicks, had someone been aboard and were killed, it would have been Murder, but even then, their "life" sentence would have only been 5 years on good behaviour or something...

 

I hope the boat is salvageable, and I hope the culprit gets hit by a speeding bus...

there will be a "remove all the burnt stuff" party at Harefield next weekend , so if anybody fancies getting dirty for a good cause
