Canal Boating in Italy

Hello folks, I'm new to the forum but have enjoyed plundering your wisdom captain.gif for some years from afar.

We have a wide-beam (10 x 60') on the River Great Ouse and are considering a big move to my partner's land - Italy. We are permanent liveaboards and want to continue that for as long as possible, and since we fancy a change of scene and have some family stuff we need to be closer to, we need to know whether it's feasible to move the boat to Italy.

Has anyone ever seen a canal boat in Italy? What is the state of their canals/rivers for cruising? What about mooring? As far as the internet can tell me, it doesn't look good at all.

Any pointers/signposts/help or advice much appreciated.

Cheers

Steph
