Federation of Bridgewater Cruising Clubs rally 2007

Delighted its being so well attended, I like the Runcorn arm especially out of season when the hooligans tend to stay in doors because of the cold and wet. There is not that much room at the terminus, will be interesting how they will all turn around

Not that much of a problem really. Oak and Ash (both the Reed 70ft hotel boats) were down the arm and they managed to wind at Top Locks.

Overall it was a great weekend. Although the weather did it's best to ruin things, it didn't quite succeed and managed to show how much BMBC had covered all angles and it showed how much planning and thought etc that went into making it a great rally for all the visitors.

There was lots on over the weekend. The Fire Service were there handing out free smoke alarms. Dave Walker from The International Guild of Knot Tyers was there, demonstrating fender making and other general rope work. Various organisations, such as SCARS, Manchester Bolton and Bury Canal Society, Runcorn Locks Restoration Society (who had a number of interesting pictures on display) and a fair bit more including the usual dog shows, bingo and other day time entertainment, with some good evening entertainment too. They also had a "boat bits" auction this morning (Monday) but we missed that due to having to get back up the mainline to our moorings

Worsley are hosting the rally for 2008, and will be at Astley. People will probably agree that it'll be a hard act to follow but I'm sure they will definately try there best and that it'll be a good one.

Yes its a shame the weather played up again. BMBC went to a lot of trouble and the set-up was excellent. Sadly we didn't get there by boat this year but had a 'taster' on Friday night with the Noggin and Natter. Glad to hear that the rest of the weekend was as good if not better.

Also the Rally brochure was excellent.

Hope everyone got back up the cut all right on the Monday.
