Montecarlo
Morning all. I've got some PVC hose on my bilge pump under my stern gland. The hose is very strong BUT not very pliable I'm extending he hose and wire so I can place the pump in various parts of my cruiser stern I need a hose that's thinner and more flexible. Any ideas? Pump nozzle and outlet for approx 20mm.
OldGoat
Some vehicle type 'rubber' convoluted hose is much more flexible.

Alan de Enfield
You mention 'pump nozzle' Are you referring to the inlet side of the pump ? If so you need rigid pipe for that side as it will / could / may collapse with the suction if it is too soft. Outlet hose can be as soft and flexible as you like as the water pressure will push the pipe 'open' to allow flow.

Not under any great pressure and not gallons of water at a time. Racking my brains as to a supplier, don't think the sheds or halfwords do it! Alan de Enfield
I got some super-soft silicone hose from ebay - not the cheapest but its lovely stuff. Do an ebay search for "silicone rubber hose"

Chewbacka
If you just want to make it pliable as a temporary thing - joining with an insert, rerouting in the bilge then pvc will become very floppy if you immerse the end or fill the hose with almost boiling water - don't burn your hands or let the hot water into the pump as it may destroy the impeller etc.
NMEA
It's probably 19mm (3/4") what you need is convaluted bilge hose, your chandler should stock it, I have reels of it in various bores in my stores, very cheap stuff.
Montecarlo
SORTED! Went to b and q... checked the PVC pipe, no good as I thought. Then spotted a washing machine outlet hose, it's now fitted and works a treat. £3 was all it cost. Very flexible and the rubber ends fit the outlet pipe and pump perfectly. Bought a second one incase I want to extend further. Thanks for the input all Splendid site
