W+T
Well the gas leak aside i decided to chill out and fit the hatch i made a year or so ago from the half and locking handles from a Houdini 500 a sit just would not seal and i didnt want to go spending near £300 on an new one. This cost about £25 i think so i like that Made new hinge knuckles Neoprene seal between plate and polycarbonate . I did try and form some ally channel to finish of the window edge but it kept on kinking. I may do something at a later date

I have a 19mm pipe bender but it wont work. U channel is only 10mm x 10mm. I could make a proper former, but it is a tight radius aswell I have a plan on getting some more Hockey stick profile as that will bend easier. I just dont have enough left. We use Premier Paints antifoul and it is really very good. The self eroding stuff for slower boats is only about £28 from them. We use the semi hard stuff which is more expensive but the self eroding paint would just wash off at the higher speeds we do. As a foot note to this I went to order our usual Premier Paints Premier One Can yesterday and the price rises from just a month ago were astronomical. It was working out at just under £95 including delivery for a 2.5 litre tin. So sadly after many years of happily using their products we have looked elsewhere and this year will be trying the Hempel Tiger Extra. Still not cheap at £65 though. Always been a good paint and good prices. I reckon a lot of others are well over priced. Either Jotun or Flag for me. Prices hardly changed for years, well not noticeable. Naughty Cal
Just antifouled ours. It was too hot for that game today. One side of the boat was in full sun. The thermometer inside was sitting at 30 degrees. After opening all of the windows and hatches for a few hours it only dropped to 26 degrees! Will just crack on through it and get it done, pop the pills and a bottle wine aswell to keep me sane hey. BSS is booked for next weekend so fingers crossed, He is a good chap that is doing it, helpful and time for me. Sooo i thought i posted this but i started it the other day a sits a job i forgot i need to do. Will have this done aswell this weekend. Perspex base for non sticky Fits under cavitation plate. W+T
I just love it when a plan comes together But for two bolts short and a small Anode its done. I am tempted though to taper the lower leading corner slightly. A good fillet then laminate the fin to beef it up more

You can get mini pipe benders ... I had a set for microbore pipe when i had my house that were desined for 8 and 10 mm copper tube, although you would have to put something firm but easily removable in the U section to support it whilst making your bends. Rick Top job on the cavitation plate and rudder btw!

W+T
I cant see how a pipe bender will bend square section with out getting kinks in it. It needs full internal and external support. 32 minutes ago, WotEver said: 19 hours ago, dccruiser said: You can get mini pipe benders ... WotEver
I guess you’d need to make your own formers. 2 hours ago, W+T said: I cant see how a pipe bender will bend square section with out getting kinks in it. That is what i did Tony i guess slightly not good enough, it was very slight kinks but slight is not good enough. I tries to find the pics i made of the former and i was sure i pit then on this blog but cant find them, But then a lot of pics have gone off here. The BSS examiner was impressed witn it and can say that they are great for canal work, it mite need adjustment as a leading edge little further away from the prop which i do and it can be fettled later as is the plan. I think they are great still. But as so many boaters that have never used them or dont need them due to there type of boat they will never know untill they try them. I am going to try it with then with out the rudder to see the difference. Anyway bad new but then great news as its not all that bad at all and happy with the out come the it FAILED the BSS Failed on a plonker not reading the items he bought correctly. It failed on teh fire extinguishers and blanket not being BSI Kite marked correctly. Happy days Oh and a final choice of name and still Queen orientated it will be KHASHOGGI
Mad Harold
when I had my Norman cruiser (wish I hadn't sold it) I fitted an "add a rudder"This is simply two ally strips with an ally plate bolted on.The two ally strips clamp onto the outboard leg with a long bolt. Very cheap off fleabay. It made an enormous lmprovement to the steering, even in neutral when normally there is no steering, there was still some control,as long as there was some way on the boat. Well just had another cock up. After over two weeks ago i sent cushion patterns off only for the `one` person in the factory to be on holiday and nobody else could sort them out for the engineers to cut them. No reply back after numerous phone calls and emails. Anyway, they sent them out and got today, christ i could of done better with a bloody butter knife. And three cushions being the central birth cushion and rear deck seats cushions. marked `all 90 deg edges` on the templates, for some mad reason the are all cut to near 45deg inwards from the top. Its these things that real get on my bits and just wish the boat was done.
