What a cracking idea to encourage more people out & about & using the towpath.

Probably only costs a few pennies to produce the booklet and provide the duck food, and 50p (?) to post it but the benefits are immeasurable.

Of course having developed the duck food market on the canals, in the longer term CRT could turn it into a money spinner for them, with duck food vending machines every mile :)

Don't be silly. They'd be out of order much of the time.

You might think it a joke but at Blackpool pleasure beach they had a fish food dispenser so you could feed there koi carp at 20 pence a go and it was making over £200 a week.

I note that they want your phone number to "arrange delivery" AND " to tell you about the work they do" in other words, it's a loss leader so they can call you and to put a guilt trip on you and get money out of you by donation or join as a CRT friend. Mixed feelings about that, but if its money for maintenance you cant really complain.

Proposed to CRT as a fundraising idea when they first formed the partnerships to be administered on a regional basis.

Would cost them nothing and they were to get 50p from each sale.

It was turned down without a meeting.

Perhaps they weren't too keen on the little duckies consuming Strong Dark Ale (or Guinness, for that matter!).
