engine room floor clean up

Now that I have completed all the upgrades and maintenance work on my boat I want to cleanup the engine bay floor.

 

There is some water/oil/diesel maybe a litre in all.

 

I am thinking of chucking down some cat litter and letting that soak it all up then sweeping it or vacuuming it up.

 

 

Is that sensible approach or is there a better way ?

Folk on here tend to recommend using a disposable nappy for soaking up gunk on engine room floors.

disposable nappy, much easier to clean up than cat litter, can you get a dust pan and brush under your engine?

just don't leave them for days on end because the absorbent inner can burst from the paper and thats a bugger to clean up

Cat litter and a wet and dry vac worked very well for my lady's engine bilge. Being loose I was able to work the litter into all the corners, nooks, and crannies with brush to do a proper job. By the time I was done it was bone dry and perfectly clean

Get it up before the cat discovers it.

Stand a cheap toilet roll end on in the bilge, it will soak up a ton of water. Or get a jumbo size car sponge from the pound shop to mop it up.

Being old-school, I use sawdust. Those nappies full of oily water are horrible things
