Hi, new to boating and just moved in yesterday. I am wondering how to get my stove working! I believe it to be a refleks visible flame, diesel stove. I can't seem to find a pilot light? How do I get it started! Thanks for any help.

Not sure if it is like mine but we have a Taylors diesel stove and we have to pre heat it with Methylated Spirits for about 5 mins before starting the diesel drip feed.

Yep - as I understand it Refleks stoves work the same way, you don't need a lot of spirit, I think about the size of a double whisky pour it in the top and chuck a lighted match in.

 

Maybe someone with the exact same model will be along soon to confirm.

can you not use a smallish bit of firelighter

If it is like ours you cant use a firelighter it is just a small aperture. We use a large syringe and need 20ml of meths to pre heat.

I have a reflecks I make sure the deisel tap is open and the flame control knob is on 1 1/2 and the silver override lever is up. Pour on about 25 mils of meths then throw match in

Let that burn for about 30 seconds and then push the silver override lever down.
