Flood Warning Alert on River Stort

Just had an automated call from the E A (I live in Stortford) of a flood warning alert on the Stort. Be careful out there guys.

The North Oxford above Hillmorton is 8" up on yesterdays level, almost topping piling. I awoke with my boat listing the wrong way for the first time in years!! (Had a pump out yesterday)

The flood channel here in Tottenham (i.e. the reason this bit of the Lee doesn't really flood) looks dangerously high this morning - another foot and it will top over and flood the housing estate in Chingford Mount.

I find those automated warnings from the EA a bit odd - I've had calls at 2am when nothing seems to be going on, yet thi smorning the river was the highest it's been so far this season, and I've heard nothing! I suppose the area it covers is bigger than the 100 metres either side of our mooring, but I still find it a little weird.

River running very high and fast here in Stortford, belting past me at about 6-7 mph. jetty disappeared. Lane flooded, can't drive through it.
