sorry i know this has been done before but i cant find it.

Anyone got some good links to a map or maps of the canal system

thanks

Have you seen Chris Clegg's map - an unusual approach but very useful in journey planning. (Not a link as such because you have to buy the map).

thanks for that, that was the one I had seen and was looking for. but will have a look at getting a paper copy

I found the paper copy very useful for route planning with no PC access (regular occurrence on a boat I find)

..link to one in my edited post....

Has anyone produced a map of every canal that has exsited?

The maps contained in the 'Illustrated History of Canal and River Navigations' by Edward Paget Tomlinson ( ISBN 1 85075 276 1 cl ) get close. Regards, HughC.

If a folding paper map is required then the best one I think is Geo projects, Inland waterways of Britain.

It gives distance, locks and time also whether canal is narrow or wide and rivers.

Canals under restoration and some of the ones that have gone.

I do not know if it is definitive, though.
