Midnight
I'm planning on replacing the no-name alternator on my Beta 43 BV1903 with a Mahle MG549 fitted with my Adverc Battery Manager. Has anyone got a wiring diagram the MG549 doesn't seem to have a handy F (field) connection so I presume I would need to solder one to the negative brush (yikes!) AFAIK the Beta 43 uses Iskra alternators (those were the data sheets they sent me), and Mahle and Iskra/Letrika are the same company...
Tracy D'arth
It not necessarily the negative brush but the one that changes voltage with revs. Do it the easy way, put a wire on both and discard the other one when you have worked out which changes when you run the engine. Take it to an alternator & starter specialist and ask them to fit a fly lead to the relevant brush holder. Whoever sold you the alternator may well have modified regulators for sale. Yes the original is an Iskra 95amp which I still have. I replaced it when the boat was new because I was told by a so-called expert the Adverc would burn it out in no time. I contacted Adverc twice for a wiring diagram but no response. 14 minutes ago, Tony Brooks said: Take it to an alternator & starter specialist and ask them to fit a fly lead to the relevant brush holder. I did that when I got the Prestolite but they soldered it to the wrong brush which cost another £40 for an Adverc repair 😆 But I will probably do what you suggest. Lightening doesn't strike twice - does it? Edited February 5 by Midnight

Lightening doesn't strike twice - does it? The specialist should know if the regulator is in the positive or negative side of the rotor and act accordingly, however I BELEIVE it is possible to wire the Adverc up improperly. Of all the fancy charging gizmos, the Adverc is the one that is the least likely to burn the alternator out because once the alternator is in an operating state where the Adverc can influence it, the Adverc boosts the charge in roughly 20 minutes high and 20 minutes on the alternator's own regulator so it gets a chance to cool down. Is this any help: https://docplayer.net/44561732-Adverc-functional-back-ground.html Edited February 5 by Tony Brooks

Brian at Adverc sent me a link to a wiring diagram in their website library, specifically for the Prestolite AV28 using a relay for the green wire . The new Adverc website doesn't seem to have a documents library. I now have to fathom out which wires to use i.e. the original Beta wiring loom (for the Iskra 95 machine sensed) or the wires I installed to set up the Prestolite. Tracy D'arth
Have you looked at the diagrams on http://fullsail.done-that.com/Docs/8. Boat Documentation/4. Manuals/Adverc_installation_basic.pdf. They seem to be straight forward. The green wire is the extra field wire. d

I downloaded the Beta manual and although there is no 95amp alternator wiring diagram I think I can work out what does what
