andybarrett1
Hi Just wondering if this hole should be there or should there be an Allen bolt in place like the othe two ?? magnetman
Smoke leak might be a dirty flue It looks like it might be part of the 'airwash' secondary air intake system which can help keep the glass clean. Assuming it is this fire the hole seems to be behind the door when closed.. Is the door sealing rope alright? https://victorianfireplacestore.co.uk/product/tiger-cub-multi-fuel-stove/
andybarrett1
Good shout on airwash 👍 Flue is clean ...First light of season ....Unless a bird built a nest in there recently Thank you
Ewan123
Smoke coming out of there does sound like it's struggling to get out through the flue and is finding the next best place to escape. I would think there should be enough draw normally that air is only coming in through a hole like that. Edited October 21, 2023 by Ewan123
magnetman
I think it is airwash inlet to clean the glass.

magnetman
Smoke into boat could also be windy weather. Maybe a longer external terminal is needed.

magnetman
It seems odd as one would assume the hole is an inlet. I sometimes get smoke out of the secondary air inlet when starting the fire cold but it doesn't last long. Once the draw is going its sucking not blowing. Hudds Lad
Quick Google shows this pic from eBay with the same hole open (it's a bit dark but you can make it out on zoom)
bizzard
Might be a hole for a throat push pull damper control.
magnetman
That would explain why it is smoking but if it is behind the top of the door when closed (above the line of the fire rope) how would it work? One would have to open the door each time to operate it. Is there perhaps another fire with the same main casting which has a damper ? Maybe they do a bigger output fire with the same main body but alterations elsewhere.
