More info required, the ones Smams09 links to are the later version, but there were others. Photo of the back of the engine may help. Some 1.5s had a dished backplate, while modern ones are flat.

 

Very early 1.5s used a two hole inertial starter, most use a three hole pre-engage.

Silly question - both of those don't seem to have a removable plate so how do you replace the spring plate without dismantling the whole end of the engine?

Jack the back of the engine up, and remove the gearbox and housing in one.

If its a Delta gearbox it is more special with 2 bearing housings in it.

You don't!. 1) Bolt gearbox to casting. 2) Bolt casting to engine
