Richardcn
Hi All Has anybody got through Lock 2 in the last few days? A previous thread suggested that, although the (parallel Lock 3) closure notice says otherwise, boats were able to get through without a problem. It would be good to know if that's still the case. enigmatic
Per that thread I went through a couple of weeks ago, as did a lot of other people. I went through at the weekend to minimise the risk of annoying contractors, but it looked like other people didn't and had no problems getting through at all. No booking (or indication that booking is available) Notices at the time suggested it was closed, the fact CRT didn't padlock it and the contractor set fences up to allow access suggests it isn't. Think they were just reserving themselves the right to shut it if they needed to for access, but it looks like they didn't

Ryeland
Open today, asked the workers whether they intended to close it later in the week, they said 'no'. Minor annoyance that one of the top paddles was fenced off for no apparent reason, very difficult to make a level and open the top gate. Needed four people! Richardcn
Thanks for all the help, sailed through today and no problem getting the top gate open. A gorgeous Spring(like) day, once the fog cleared, with plenty of folk out cruising including hire boats. Didn't think they appeared until Easter! Maily governed by cost but we did pay more at half terms.
Ken X
Anglo-Welsh have solid fuel stoves on a number of their boats. Highly recommended for a quiet Christmas or New Year cruise. We often tuck ourselves away for a winter wander on pretty much deserted canals.
