removing a radiator??

i want to remove a radiator from my boat and wondered do i need to cap the 2 pipes or do i have to link them together?  still want to keep the other rads working..  thanks

Normally where all the radiators are in parallel you just cap the stub pipes or use the radiator valve and lock shield valve to isolate it. However if by some chance they are in series then for the rest to work you need to link the two stubs.

Quickest way to check would be to isolate it at  both ends and see what happens with the others.

 

If they stop getting warm you will need to connect them together.

Removing permanently or temporarily as it will have a knock on effect to the boiler. Less load

thanks guys...   will cap and see if the others still work....   its to be removed permanently as need the wall space...  i still have 3 more rads on the boat and its a webasto boiler so hopefully will put less strain on the system ....  cheers

Which is worse for the webasto as it will cycle more and soot up more

I have four large panel radiators and a  domestic sized cauliflower on our boat and the Mikuni splutter still hunts. (somebody will translate...)

Particularly on boats, if is ain't broke - don't fix it...

As the first boat we had was, no I didn't plumb it
