Nightwatch
My mind is boggled. I plan to cut an internal door in half length ways, hinge it to allow it to fold back onto itself. Can you get small hinges that do that?

If it has butt hinges on the hung side, I would still go with a piano hinge on the 'split' edges. Just a personal choice though.
Nightwatch
Think I have my degrees co*ked up. It’s 360 degree isn’t it?

Nightwatch
No it isn’t? It’s as I thought 180 degrees isn’t it? My brain ain’t what it used to be. Edited April 7, 2021 by Nightwatch

A piano hinge will rotate 360 if not attached to anything, but if you attach it as per the picture I posted it will only allow 180 degrees of travel at the split in the door. Because it wont be able to completely fold back on itself.

GUMPY
You will have to support the end of the door otherwise all the weight will be on the middle hinge. We have these on our bi fold doors https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Newland-Bi-fold-Track/p/208064 It shows the type of hinges used as well. Guest
@Nightwatch Are you also sure the door you wish to split is solid? It likely will be on a boat but lots of doors these days are hollow, cutting one of them in half will give you nothing to fasten the centre hinges to. Nightwatch
It’s on a boat and is 15mm ply. It’s a door separating the bedroom from the dining area. Ihave extended the bed width wise and have fitted two way hinges that allows the door to swing from daytime position with bed pushed in and door against the bed. Bedtime with bed extended the door swings into the dining area but blocks off the dining area seating, so I want to cut the door lengthwise in half, fold it back onto itself and then swing it into the dining area and clip back. So.......the knob end/side of the door has to turn just 180 degrees back onto itself, or does it? The ‘full’ door can already swing into the dining area to the bedroom because of the two way hinges I have already fitted. There’s lots of swinging about. Nightwatch
I think my original thought of 180 degrees works. So either a piano hinge as suggested by The happy nomad or a bog standard butt hinge, of which I have plenty, will do it. Just doesn’t pay to over think it. Graham Davis
Piano hinge will also look much tidier, and be stronger.
