  1. Trent and Mersey Shardlow lock to Aston lock. Received this afternoon.
  2. During the first lockdown CRT issued guidance about when in their opinion it would be reasonable to visit your boat. This time nothing. I am getting emails from CRT warning about canal levels where I am moored but not sure I want an argument with the Derbyshire police!
  3. I use a Jabsco Par Max 2.9. Jabsco say in their advertising that it doesn't need an accumulator but I had hammering when turning off taps and it kicked in sometimes.in the middle of the night when the calorifier cooled down. I emailed Jabsco about the hammering and they said I should have an accumulator in circuit. So I installed one and it now all works perfectly and also doesn't wake us up at night.
  4. MIT graduates cannot power a light bulb with a battery. - YouTube
  5. Just a taper fit. Yank it harder.
  6. The sockets marked 12v could be connected to either 12v or the 230v from the inverter. As there seem to be no wiring diagrams to clarify this is potentially dangerous. The OP should use the multimeter to find out and if any are 12v the sockets should be changed to a clearly different type. Not sure the OP is safe doing this.
  7. Encouraging. Sounds like my sort of people.
  8. Has anyone seen / know anything about the new marina being built between Fradley and Alrewas? Good location and not too big with 60 berths. Looks a bit posh / expensive according to the website.
  9. Appreciate these days it' s advisory but a fan in the vent would affect the high level ventilation calculations.

  12. Area is not clearly defined in spite of the various interpretations suggested on here. Considering the number of barristers and solicitors in parliament and the lords it is pretty poor lawmaking. It is also advice only so non enforcible.
  13. Bi metal corrosion. Fastener should really be the same metal as the handle and cover which look like steel. Why not just use a steel allen screw and nut?
  14. I might let her run a few boats for me if she wants a business partner. She is quite a lady.
  15. Actually looks a good boat for £32,000. It was an ex hire boat so might actually pass the extended BSS. The admission that she didn't know anything about boats probably sums it up. The journalist's knowledge seems limited to carpets.
  16. 'Buying a house didn't seem like an option — so I got a canal boat' (inews.co.uk) Only £32,000 for a boat and a bit of decorating. Now renting it out on Airbnb. What can possibly go wrong?
  17. There is also the possibility of antifreeze in the heating coils leaking into the calorifier. This is poisonous.
  18. Trying to find out if I can go to the boat to drain the water system under the new tier rules. Not at all clear but regulations still to be published. I can have sex as long as it is outside in a public place and as long as we keep 2m apart!

    Oh dear

Yes we should of course look before stepping backwards off the boat if only to avoid the dog poo. But we did the Erewash last year and coming up to and leaving locks was a nightmare - constantly having to step aside for a bike while trying to persuade the boat to do what it was told. Maybe the signs should clearly say that walkers and boaters have priority and bikes should stop until the path is clear.

    Oh dear

I usually step off backwards holding the centre rope and watching the boat blowing around in the wind. Nearly got hit by a cyclist a few days ago. Just seen the CRT notice that the towpath where I moor is being resurfaced so they can go even faster.
  21. Could you replace the non latching relays with latching relays? These only take current when actually opening or closing. Have to do a search to see what is available.
