  1. My boat has passed BSS 3 times with them fitted.
  2. Hi, i bought them from ebay, search for item number 161332100650 around £40 each, dont disturb me at night as they stop when it gets dark.
  3. My boat had brass mushroom vents on when i bought it but i replaced them several years ago with stainless steel solar powered vents, 3 taking air out and one in the main cabin bringing it in, they run all year round and keep the boat dry and fresh, brilliant in my opinion.
  4. Most likely two pumpout tanks that will be connected for cc ing ?
  5. A photo of my kettle, doesnt boil water but its fast !
  6. Just had an email 3/17 the latest dates for the closure are Monday 13th February at 8 am till Wednesday 24 th May at 12 noon. The rumour I have heard is that the council have not yet approved planning consent for the work to be carried out.
  7. I would suspect the delay in starting the work would be with the contractors not peel holdings ? Still damned annoying though. Let's hope they do get it done on time though the delays so far don't bode well.
  8. Had the email from bridgewater canal co notice 1 2017. Closure now 13 th February ar 8am to 16th June at 12 noon. (Approx). Not a happy boater That's my Easter plans scuppered!.
  9. Does that mean I will get a 3 month refund on my bridgewater licence ? I think not !
  10. If you look on e.bay for i expand in whatever size you require they are specifically made for this issue and work brilliantly !
  11. Thank you everyone for your experienced advice, as I don't live aboard anymore the boat is just used for weekends and occasional holidays so the emptying of a cassette should not be too much of a chore, the nearest pump out station at present is quite close but will close at some point leaving me with a two hour cruise just to empty the holding tank, plus there is some odour when the boat is unused for periods of time so I think a cassette toilet is the way to go, I will have a look at thetford and porta potty and see what the best models are. Many thanks once again.
  12. Hi all, I am planing to remove the dump through toilet and holding tank over winter and was looking for any recommendations that the great font of knowledge on here may provide, ideally loading from the top or front would be helpful, and a reasonable capacity, any to avoid ?. Many thanks in advance.
  13. I have found that as long as it's not windy simply pulling on the back rope sends the bow out, hop on and away you go, never tried it with a ring or bollard tho.
  14. If you Google Andrew page and find your nearest branch they should deliver it to you no problem, blue and pink antifreeze will mix but it brings the pink antifreeze down to the level of the blue, neat antifreeze/ coolant is best used at 50 percent.
  15. I would suggest a motor factor who supplies local garages as they will supply antifreeze in 25 ltr drums far cheaper that retail outlets, the ideal dilution is around 50 percent antifreeze to water, it's also called coolant as it has properties which increase it's boiling point I believe and most brands last around 3 to five years in a system .
  16. Marcus, maybe this would be a better alternative to solar panels for your bilge pump problems, item number 191311471523 on fleabay now. Would certainly look better I would think.
  17. I bought a log splitter from aldi last year when they had them in, it bent on the 2nd log so returned it and got my money back, just not strong enough to do the job.
  18. Marcus, I would be very wary using a pressure washer of any type on a wooden boat never mind a super high pressure one, I think a hose pipe would be more suitable, hope all goes well tomorrow for you.
  19. Thankyou for sharing your photos, nice to see other waterways that I doubt I shall ever see in person.
  20. Wishing you the very best of luck Marcus, many of us would sigh and walk away from such a daunting task, really hope you get fairstar up first attempt, keep us posted.
  21. Believe it or not the lister engine and the Bmc engine and box are not much different weight wise, well done on taking the plunge into b.m.c world, it worked well for me.
  22. I fitted one 18 months ago and am very pleased with it, very little prop wash with it and it stops on a button ! Doesn't seem to foul much either. Was worth the money to me.
  23. I shower every day and get two weeks from my water tank and a pump out every 4 weeks, I recently put a gauge on the water tank and find it helps tremendously.
  24. The hurth box I have is the 100 with 2:1 reduction and is the same in either direction. Had no problems with it so far.
  25. Hi Chris, I did exactly the same conversion two years ago to my boat and don't regret it for a second, I loved the character of the lister but not the hot smell and smoke when it got too hot, I picked up a 1.8 Bmc from eBay fitted with a hurth gearbox (which will happily run in either direction) and had a skin tank fitted , lots more power no smell and hot water in abundance!, the engine mounts width wise are the same and the prop was just a little overproped but not too be worried about , I have however fitted a square bladed prop now which works great and is right for the engine. I wouldn't personally go for the 1.5, if your going to do it try for the 1.8, much stronger in my opinion. Best of luck. Hi again, one on there now item number 331279542263 for £500 with a prm box.
