Next march we will be fully retired,and hope to go out for 6 months in the summer. We are moored on the river wey,to get anywhere we need a thames licence and bw licence. A gold licence would have cost £1027 this year. Do bw issue 6 month licences,as i could buy one 15 day licence for the thames on the way up and one on the way back,leaving 5 months on bw waters,and would that be a cheaper way of doing it. Hello Leo. If your engine is running ok,then it may only be leaves round your prop,put it in reverse now and again to clear them, and see if it makes any difference.

Also Sterling put up refurbished ones for auction on ebay,might be worth a bid.

Purchasing a boat is about the same as purchasing a car,Buyer be ware is the way to go,make sure it is his boat to sell,no outstanding finance,and all the RCD and Bss paperwork is up to date,then all you need to get from him is a signed bill of sale,thats what i did when i purchased mine private.Hope it all comes together.I expect someone will tell you different. Hello Jo. When we first encountered your son we was moored at the Anchor at Pyrford,when they came past us things were flying off our worktops, doors were banging,and the porta poti fell over,i shouted at them to slow down,but the noise from their radio drowned me out,there must have been at least 20 on board. On their way back we were moored at Guildford,we heard them coming,they must have fitted the 2 new speakers,but we were ready for them,i had moored with 2 ropes facing out and 2 facing in,also 2 at a 45 degree angle from the centre hook,all to no avail,the wash they were making came over my tug deck and flooded the boat,there must have been at least 40 on board. Apart from that they were no problem.

Hello Bargemast. Its a Lister HW2,never misses a beat,and being in a engine room i can give it a cuddle at the end of the day.

If it was me,i would go for a twin pot water cooled lister,and if you have the space,put it in an engine room.You wont regret it. Hope it all goes well. Regards. Twinpot.

Im not happy,i went on the thames last year and i never got a coat,was they nice and warm.

I only recieved it this morning,so if i post it tomorrow it will not leave our post box till 5pm,and with Monday being a bank holiday i dought if they will recieve it before the 4th,but my take on this is they should have invoiced it for the 1st of Jan and charged me 17.5% vat,all other invoices have been from the first of the month. I pay for my mooring quarterly,so my next payment will be for the period 1st Jan to the 31st march,on the 4th Jan the vat goes up to 20%,on the bill they have dated it 5th Jan and charged 20% vat,should that not have been dated 1st Jan and charged 17.5% vat for that quarter then 20% on 1st April.
