  2. I've made two boxes, one for each hatch which sit on the roof. They are painted to match the roof cover and sit in place when I'm not on the boat. I move them when on the move. Absolutely no dampness around them. I did also make a wooden frame with some stick on foam around the outside. The frame sat tight into the hatch surround. The frame incorporated a piece of polycarbonate to allow the light through. It works and keeps the metal frame dry but I like the protection the external box provided.
  3. I have a 10kw Ebber on my 64' NB. I have 4 largish double radiators a towel rail and 2 x hot water cylinders. I don't live aboard but when y=using the boat over a weekend I switch on and leave it running until I go to bed when I switch off. Back on following morning. I have added an override switch which keeps the unit running all the time. It drops from flat out to a third of its speed after about 2 hours. Always starts, its been brilliant. About 7 years old.
  4. My boat is on a mooring connected to shore power. The SG shows 100% charged. I also have a digital amp meter that was showing 0.0 which would be right because everything was turned off and the batteries fully charged. This last weekend I turned off the shore power and about 90 minutes later started the engine to warm it up before changing the oil. I checked the SG and the amp meter, both had not moved so there was no power from the alternator going into the bank. I was pleased with the results, it shows everything is quite accurate. I run 24V leisure and 12V starter so am not able to check the state of the starter battery from my gauges.
  5. DO NOT butt joint the flue pipes and hope a jubilee clip will hold it together.
  6. I wish I understood all this stuff!!

  10. You could get some large water barrels and fill them to get an idea?
  11. It sounds as though I might as well continue with Marine 16 Diesel Fuel Complete. It has worked well for me. I use my dipstick with a water paste on it to check for water in the tank. To date it has shown nothing.
  12. I have just used the last of my Marine 16 Diesel Fuel Complete. I bought a litre in 2017. I've just looked up prices and 1 litre has jumped from £29.95 to £46!!! Is there another product that works as well or is there somewhere I can buy Complete for less than £46/litre? Thanks
  13. I wanted some paint matched to a 50 year old Moto Guzzi. My local car paint supplier zapped the colour I needed from the tank and made me up the colour. It matches exactly! It certainly wasn't matched to a RAL colour
  14. I too have had a lot of leakage problems. I have now made timber boxes that sit over my hatches, painted same colour as roof. The contact edge of the box to the roof has a layer of weed hatch foam on it. No more leaks, easy to move when it’s dry, I move them to the front of the roof and put them back if it starts to rain. I also have have wooden frames internally with Perspex centres which stop all condensation.
  15. I have a 24V to 12V converter at the stern of the boat and a lead from there behind the panelling to the TV position. All of my entertainment stuff is generally 12V and is all controlled from the same switch panel.
  16. That would still leave me with issues because there is nowhere to connect anything up other than at the wrong end of the boat.
  17. The reason I would prefer 12V is that my TV is at the front of the boat and my power supply is at the rear. I would have to run new power cable to the TV. In addition I have a Sterling Inverter and I know what you think of them!! Likely to break if used too much. Seems cheaper to stay with 12V Thanks to everybody who responded, I'll take a look at your suggestions. I have checked the DVD player now I am home and it works fine. Bloody Cello!!!
  18. I have a Cello tv on board and the dvd is playing up. Mostly it doesn’t work. I’ve bought a separate DVD player and now the tv is not picking up the signal from the hdmi port. I also have loads of trouble getting a signal on digital tv or satellite. I think I need a new tv!! Can anybody recommend a 12volt 32” tv that has a scart input and a couple of hdmi’s. I don’t need anything else and I don’t want a Cello!! Thanks
  19. Hi Bizzard, did you get the chance to check if the locks into Bishops Stortford were open yesterday?
  20. I had these symptoms too but it was on a Beta 43. Turned out it was a slightly lose union that was allowing air into the system.
  21. Is this all open now? I'm planning on visiting Bishops Stortford on Wednesday. Cant see any mention on the Stoppages site.
