  2. There used to be one of those little tugs tied up in Uxbridge, it's was used solely to dump rubbish and water/toilet duties Darren
  3. Laurence sorry but I must be having a thick moment These pictures are both labelled as being hawtreys pit but clearly they are taken at different places. Darren Laurence sorry but I must be having a thick moment These pictures are both labelled as being hawtreys pit but clearly they are taken at different places. Darren
  4. Lawrence the over head view of hawtreys pit with the boats in it is that the same lake that the wide beam is that is out on the bank ?? If it is then were is the island that's in the centre gone. Darren
  5. And let's all wear Daisy's in our hair and play guitar under an old oak tree shall we. People are far too sensitive these days Darren
  6. Calling him Dan makes you come across a spotty, glass wearing ginger hair train anorak, I think your find he prefers to be called Daniel. Darren
  7. No your right a steam cleaner is a great asset in an outside environment but in a 8 ft room IMO you will unnecessarily cover everything in shit
  8. Yep and completely cover ever thing else in an oily greasey watery mixture, lovely
  9. Hot soapy water is just as good and a stiff brush. Darren
  10. I know back in the day boats had a chimney extension but did it also fit into the collar as well to prevent taring on the roof ?? In winter I use a rolled Steel Sheet for my chimney and use the "nicey brassy one" for summer. Darren
  11. I've only ever seen 2, large socket GU windlass with GUCCC stamped onto it. Darren
  12. What a great collection, have you got any GUCCC issued windlass's. Darren

  14. Well I've never had any problem using washing up liquid and canal water and my boats spotless. I suppose though it all depends on how you use. Darren
  15. What about a little drop of washing up liquid in a bucket. And why use tap water?? when you could use the stuff that your boat is floating in. Darren
  16. I've got an hydraulic puller that might fit that mr Darren
  17. Careful gaggle otherwise he will report you to Daniel !! Darren
  18. I would imagine it's had a new bottom in 10mm steel with the original sides at a 1/4" steel with 4mm cabin sides and roof. Darren
  19. Grace & favour is another one who posted a lot then vanished. Wonder if Daniel gives them a pill to swallow after they give up there roll if being a moderator ?? Darren
  20. Done one of our GU tanks, used cork for the gasket, used new boats/washers with gas ptfe tape wrapped around thread and washer. Been fine now for 4 years or so. Sadly both now need removing as both have got pin holes around the bottom. Darren Edit for fat finger syndrome
  21. As a parent would most defentley be standing next to the child whist they were steering I would hazard a guess the conversation went like this ...... Get over this way or get over that way. I very much doubt the child was left to steer a boat on his own while both parents were on either one of the other boats. And if they were I doubt the mum would be yelling bread or cheese at the child while he rounded a bend. Darren
  22. Does anyone think these little stories are actually true or are they another one of the great tales that ex boaters tell while sitting in the pub holding court in front of gullible wannabe boatman or women I'm not sexist. Darren
