My Dads family go back six generations of working boatmen born n raised on the canals (six on my grandads side & three on my grans side), although town born myself my heart & blood are in the canals.I spent most of my childhood on or around the G U with my Grandad , love to read & hear about the old boats & ways of life & traditions. although my knowledge of the boats engine & technical stuff is limited I have a huge amount of books & personal records of most old canal family trees,their way of life & superstitions. have collected records on over 80 canal working boat familys

& at present studying to become a canal geneologist.
