    Hatton Lock 32

All good. Opened a while ago but got a bit tied up towing one off the bottom and another through a couple of locks 😀

    Hatton Lock 32

It's the lugs on the paddles that have rotted away or failed. New paddles are already here, the pound is drained and CRT are fitting them at the moment. 🙂 @john6767 I am on nb Eddie below 31 so if you dont want to walk to see whats going on..
  3. Yep. Do so every now and again. I do have the advantage of mooring below Bedford Lock though 😀 so can go on a whim when River is good..
  4. That little Island always amuses me going around it -as it does any dog walkers in the park. Really doesnt look like a narrowboat is going to fit. Ps- photo taken Jan 22 not long after the mooring was done.
  5. You can get right up to and on the mooring immediately before Kempston Mill Bridge. It is a bit shoally though and you have to pick your way through. I wouldnt attempt to wind there with any fresh coming down, you could get well wedged and become a temporary dam - far better to reverse with the flow and wind where there is some depth and room.

    Hatton Lock 32

Looks like being tomorrow now. CRT have cleared the boats waiting below 32 into pound below 31,I guess they will be draining that pound. No more boats arriving behind me so assume they have shut the flight at the top and bottom.

    Hatton Lock 32

Both paddles now broken. Waiting for CRT to fix it- may be 4 or 5 hours or tomorrow..
  8. @LadyG Just a thought but are you on Facebook? Trentlink is very handy if you want to go up Trent with other boats for company.
  9. I was in Thorne (just- Blue Water Marina) on Saturday- no wait at the Sliding Bridge again -it was opened as I approached it.
  10. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  11. Hope it doesn't rain too much then..😀
  12. Looks like it has been repaired and reopened now. No official notice as yet but read its open on Facebook and checked to make sure the notice(s) are no longer in Teamup... Too late for me but good news for everyone waiting and finished ahead of time 🙂
  13. I've never had a problem with remote moorings. A few weeks ago moored up in the middle of hundreds of boats in Tottenham, I dozed off on the sofa about 8.30pm while watching TV- woke up to find my Phone, wallet (cash, cards, driving licence etc) gone. All ten foot away from my presumably snoring self..
  14. I'd (probably wrongly as I'm generally rather good at misunderstanding things ) taken the notice to mean that West Midlands would be running down the extra needed to Derwent from below Wychnor Lock/R.Trent. I've often wondered how they work out how much actually goes into that River section and then how much to take out at the other end. It's all a bit of a pain-I might have been stuck there too but closure on Nene buggered me before I even got that far 😀
  15. I'm not sure where the boundary starts between East and West Midlands is. Looks to be around Burton ish according to the very vague Region Map I have- so below Alrewas might be West Midlands.
  16. @David Mack Thanks for that- I have loads of history on Google Maps but its always showed up as either places or cities and doesn't look right. Don't think I would have worked out your method 😃 so very much appreciated
  17. Thanks- that's exactly what I have been looking for. Next step working out how to do it!
  18. I would expect CRT to either ask boaters to share the lock or put restricted hours/manage the lock with vollies. Guess we will hopefully find out tomorrow ..
  19. Think the problem was when they went to lower it and it wouldnt they were hoping for a slightly easier fix. Looks like it's going to be a tougher problem to solve. Are you on your way back now or are you out for a bit longer? Hope its not buggered your plans too much regardless 🙂
  20. That's a polite way of putting it 😀 Chap who's boat I was supposed to be taking to Newark so he could spend his (booked off time from work holiday and Gold Licence) bringing it back is less than happy too. Although I suppose I should thank the EA for reducing my tax bill by the loss of several weeks wages this year so far. It is , boating aside I thought, an important part of Northamptons flood protection. Let's hope we don't get any freak rain/floods in the next few weeks while the EAs contractors are faffing about.

    T&M closed

Seem to remember every time I've come across that lock empty the bottom offside has gate has swung open. Not helping with the leaky top gates.
  22. There goes my optimism. Closed until the 18th now
  23. I assume this is all done online and isn't a card you have to order/buy. Very handy if so.
  24. Thanks MP. Got to admit I've still never seen one yet..
