  1. I didnt bother stopping there as decided I could make it until Wellingboro anyhow. Unfortuantly that was still closed too but should be open again today hopefully ( guessing you going that way)
  2. Thanks SG. Has jogged my memory to sign up to email alerts.
  3. Just been stopped on my way up by a IWA volunteer who pedalled after me to tell me the flight is now closed due to an oil spill at Gayton. Presumed someones nicking the oil again!
  4. I have no idea - maybe the EA and MLC go dutch I would imagine it has to go through MLC as at the very least machinery will be operating off their land at Salters Lode. And all the H & S regs that go with that etc..
  5. Thought you'd like to hear that. Fingers crossed it all goes to plan for you both
  6. Just gone through and the Relief lockie says theres plant arriving Monday to clear the entrance. So Happy Days. Thats bloody good service from somewhere that you dont even pay a licence to ( yet)
  7. Nothing new there then.. Probably got a 70fter in a few weeks to get through- sounds like you will be there before me so can you push out a nice groove for me pls
  8. Salters Lode has had a temporary fix and is business as usual as of tomorrow morning (Wednesday 29th)
  9. It is indeed- I visited it year before last. Saw an enormous Terrapin and a Crane (of the massive flying kind) Suns out now too :-)
  10. Every cloud has a silver lining and all that and if the sun would come out again too ..
  11. Having phoned Paul last Tuesday and found out the locking through times for going through today (Monday) - I have to say it was a bit of a surprise finding this out yesterday on my way to Denver Now sat at Ely and think I may take the time to go have a look down the Lark as it must have been the late 80's since I last did. Fingers crossed for Tuesday..
  12. Your uxter plate will indicate depth at stern (more or less) and it will be a few inches less at the bow (obviously this measurement taken at a point where the baseplate is still flat) . If its a sink then the skin fitting will have to go where it needs to be- the sink itself will take into account your required 10 inches. If its a skin fitting to say a pump, then leave some spare hose to loop above the fitting- you can always adjust to suit later. If in doubt, as Wotever says, wait until its in the water!
  13. I fitted a wall hung Vetus HATO 6-8 years ago on a customers boat. It has to be the best looking loo Ive come across (as far as loos go) The plastic flush button discoloured quickly but that is the only negative thing I can say about it. Other than that it has never had a fault. A 24 volt loo was originally supplied in error and a 12v macerator motor had to be fitted. I cannot remember now exactly how much the new one was- but think it was approx £350.
  14. International Perfection Plus. (Two pack) Not cheap but the finish is fantastic and its pretty good to use. Ive peeled the remains out the bottom of a mixing pot a year later and its still flexible.
  15. Bludy hell. Thats really not good news. If you need any pumps, etc I have a couple of mains sump pumps I can get to you. Wont help much but might help you sleep at night until you can get her out..
  16. I made a steel frame with adjustable feet and a ply top. Made it really easy to level up with everything and gives you as much access under it as you can possibly get. It is a very low boat even with the floor bolted direct to the steels.
  17. Pretty sure it was these I used last time I needed anything wooden- was for a broads cruiser though and not a narrowboat. http://www.traditionalboatsupplies.com
  18. There probably wont be. I fitted a Puffin boiler model a couple of years ago and the 1" fitting bottomed out on the back nut. Resorted to some high temperature silicon around the threads /top of backnut. Not ideal but seemed a better solution than hacking the fitting about. Bit of a poor design I thought for want of a few more threads.
  19. Humour me here - but this is a welded 'add in' tank isnt it? Similar to a squirrel. If so it must be a bit wobbly as is missing the back nuts. The marks around the hole suggest there used to be some there...
  20. As Mtb says- should be 1" bsp male thread so these should do you-(assuming you are using 28mm pipe) http://www.screwfix.com/p/female-coupler-28mm-x-1/96133
  21. If the end section is infact welded in then trim the pipe on the outside down to a few millimetres and use that as a guide for a 2 inch hole saw. Leaves a nice hole ready for rewelding.
  22. This picture shows why you really dont want to use undersized cables on an inverter. Cables are 25mm squared, was fused (way too big a fuse ) , tidily installed and had even been in use for quite a while. I would check the manual (should be easy to find one on the Mastervolt site) and follow Mastervolts install instructions for your size of inverter.
  23. But you only need one set of gates- as this intrepid narrowboater going onto the Old Bedford proves.. https://mobile.twitter.com/PaulSeparovicEA/status/795330772290912256/video/1
