  1. If you are serious about going electric you could do far worse than speaking to Peterboat, he has gone Lithium Ion batts and electric drive. Phil
  2. Well no not in the case of Riverside Island Marina. The moorings are in a narrow basin, in a couple diches/dykes and along the riverbank. As the name of the place indicates it is an island. The lake is reached by a rather tight shallow arm which leads to a lake, around the lake are lodge homes and are all privately owned. Off the lake and the arm leading to it are arms along which are more lodge homes . The lake is only used by boats too long to turn in the basin. Of course the lodge owners do use it to moor their boats but the marina and the lodges are separate entities and thus the use of the lake is granted just for turning purposes Phil

  4. Ref Mildenhall, sadly for the local economy the base is earmark for closure in the next couple of years, the traffic does consist of mainly tankers plus some fast jets and of course the Osprey along with a few Apaches. Traffic seems heavy because a lot of the transport and tankers do a lot of circuits and bumps just to keep their hand in. Reminds me of when I was due to fly home from Shannon, driving to the airport I was amazed at how many Jumbos were landing and taking off. When I got nearer it proved to be just one........ doing circuits and bumps LOL ? Phil
  5. Strange, we have a lake in our marina and a massive terrapin has been spotted in it, can't be the same one though as it's too far. Phil
  6. We tried a memory foam mattress topper but failed to notice much difference, we bit the bullet and bought a memory foam mattress and found it great, no regrets. Phil
  7. I've posted praise for H cowl before, no ingress of rain, not effected by down draught and unaffected by wind causing fire to overdrawn H cowl very common on fishing vessels and they have plenty of wind to cope with Phil
  8. Just think of the metre or so of flue inside the boat as a round radiator. Phil
  9. Fascinating to watch them swing the rotors to switch from vertical to horizontal, consider myself lucky to be able watch them operating. (Keep expecting to see Alice) Phil
  10. The Whissey is my all time favourite river. Phil
  11. I think it's called closing your account ( a bit too radical) Phil
  12. Yes that filter on the pump is very fine indeed and susceptible to clogging but as its metal mesh it is easily cleaned off. Phil
  13. As aĺl above, there is something special about the Fens in the winter, the only caution is as has been posted above ref levels. Phil (river Lark)
  14. Perhaps the OP could let us know what the pulley/ belt situation is, if only to satisfy my curiosity. It seems that it's quite common for people to fit bigger or too big alternators with no thought to how they are going to drive them Maybe manufacturers or suppliers could enclose advisory notes. Phil
  15. Would agree with Sam, when I had an issue with a bat to bat charger he was happy to talk on the phone, just be aware he can be "blunt" Phil

  17. Yes I know you will always give as good as you get, nowt wrong with that but...... as of yet nobody has given you anything, you just popped up with a bit of a rant Phil
  18. Still trying to wind things up Rachael? Let's hope nobody starts a thread on speeding Why not just let it go?, as I said earlier, all as of now is calm and peaceful so why not let that stand. Phil

  21. Wayne, love the look of this boat, far removed from a bath tub, for this description to fit you would need to be like a Broads cruiser ie a Caribbean etc etc Phil
  22. All? Phil For heaven's sake, get over yourself, there are many TB members who are regular posters here and hey let's compare reps before you start calling me out Phil
  23. It's simple Flyboy, somebody needed help and all I did was point him in the direction of somebody who could help I'm not trying to recruit anyone and if you bothered to read that thread when you visited you would realise it was tongue in cheek. I suggest you stop trying to wind things up because as of now all is happy, calm and peaceful, if you had bothered to check my profile you would find I've been a member here for 10 years and have a decent reputation so don't start having a go at me pal Phil
