  1. Yarwoods Historic butty for sale! Apologies if this has already been posted! Butty for sale
  2. I was surprised to read the description as well. I sold Gorse to the current owner in 1986. It had a draught of around 2'9" if I remember correctly, the counter is taller from the waterline than most of the other josher motors. I remember the front was hugely overbuilt by waterways and was a very strong boat. The engine I put in to the boat around 1984 I think to replace and aged SR2. Bit quirky but went well. I am sure I told him at the time it was Yarwoods boat!
  3. Indeed!! I have seen bad pictures but not very often to get nothing!
  4. You could always buy this if you have an outboard motor! Sorry if this has been posted before Butty for sale
  5. Looks like a wooden butty and a Woolwich motor.

  9. It hit a lock wall in either Brentford or Limehouse and did some damage. I think it was all repaired properly though.
  10. Two butties listed today https://narrowboats.apolloduck.co.uk/boat/narrow-boats-butty/611979 https://narrowboats.apolloduck.co.uk/boat/bantock-bros-72-butty/611989 Though one is motorised.
  11. I was the owner of Themis that removed said cabin. I was intending to live in the cabin but the need for a total re skin or rebuild of the cabin was needed. As Pete Harrison has mentioned the age of the cabin on certain boats and the ingress of water over many years made the keeping of it not financially viable. Also the hull sides and the front to the boat behind the cabin was suffering in a bad way being constantly damp. Between the cabin and the engine room the steel had almost completely rusted away. The boat had spread and I had to chain it in in a lock on the Trent and Mersey and the windows nearly popped out as the seals had long gone! First night it rained one of my suitcases filled with water from one of the many drips in the ceiling! A loss yes but something had to be done with it. It is sad to see a long term conversion be removed but in this case it was either reconvert (which the following owner did) or de convert.
  12. LMS Dehli for sale Dont know if this has been posted!!
  13. Hey Thanks for this. It was wonderful to see the canal without quite as many boats! Great dialogue and really nice to see..
  14. When I bought Archimedes it was composite. At that time I removed the SR3 from the back cabin and put in the HR2 back into the original engine room. My dad put the extension cabin on to make it easier for living on. When I sold the boat to Albert he ran it for a while with the wooden bottoms but he did replace the bottom with steel I think in the early 90's Was a lovely boat to boat with and went like a rocket with the wooden bottoms in.... I am pretty sure Ara is steel bottomed.

  16. I sold Archimedes to your father. He always loved it.
  17. This is a great set of photos and information. Thanks for your putting this up. ?
  18. We are hoping that Lion and Hawk will be there but you never know if that may change!!
  19. Still the best modern carrying boat I have ever seen. I think this was built alongside Otley hence the proportions are so good.
  20. I know its not old but not a bad price. http://narrowboats.apolloduck.co.uk/boat.phtml?id=555397
  21. I think Graeme at Stockton Dry Dock re-bottomed and re-footed Otley a wile ago now. He did say they only did the hold and not under the back cabin and engine room. I think he is much partial to Large Northwich's even though I keep getting him to work on josher's!!
