  1. Whilst on the subject of boating associated funerals, this is available from a firm in Nottingham. https://www.crazycoffins.co.uk/index.html
  2. The two gents on it were Dutch on this occasion.
  3. Passing through Braunston this morning.
  4. Failing the hold boarded over there is this option. Photo K. Doddington.
  5. Note "Free car parking", unlike a boat show I know of! 😁
  6. One of these? Black & Decker drill handle. Or something a bit smaller, a Workmate knob? Black and Decker Workmate Handle Replacement Black & Decker - Etsy UK
  7. We have had a black canvas cratch cover for many years now. The only way I have found to keep it looking good is to clean at least once a year and use something like this.
  8. Out of touch now, left BT in 2009. For trunk and Junction cables which were installed in 2km lengths the whole 2km had to be replaced if one section was damaged. I assume that if a fibre drop wire is damaged only the drop wire will need replacing. If it is a pole smash or a DSLAM, pronounced DEE-slam, (Digital subscriber line access multiplexer) is wrecked a lot more expensive. Digital subscriber line access multiplexer - Wikipedia
  9. This "inspection style launch" complete with wing mirrors was a Braunston a few years ago.
  10. Pity they didn't meet the self-confessed "rudest man on the cut," he would certainly have blasted them with both barrels. 😁
  11. Further to this a couple of pictures of the original HASTY.
  12. With the Bowman oil coolers one thing to look out for is distortion of the rubber boots.
  13. I made this from an 18mm socket and an old spark plug spanner.
  14. If you have an oil cooler it is probably a Bowman. Should look like this:- Probably at the back end of the engine. The gear box had been removed in the second photo.
  15. Steam powered HASTY is a replica of Blisworth tunnel tug HASTY
  16. Whilst taking the dog for a walk at Braunston this morning, I came across a Viking narrow boat (not a wide boat as in picture) with one of these on the stem. From research, common on their boats. Viking Canal Boats | Luxury Bespoke Narrowboats & WideBeam Builders
  17. Black Prince or ex Black Prince stand out a mile with their Bow and stern. Built by a few different builders over the years. Reeves and Pinder being two of them. Union Canal Carriers have a distinctive fleet too. Some of these are now in private hands. Quite a few Barney Boats about. Distinctive with their Saab single cylinder diesel engines. @Owls Den There are also Fernwood Boats. You may see this in your travels. Quite a few ex-Challenger Syndicate boats are now in private hands. Shell, Norton Canes plus I think other builders, fit out Blue Haven Marine.
  18. @Owls Den May I suggest you visit the Historic Boat Gathering at Braunston on 24th - 25th June. 2023 HISTORIC BOAT RALLY 24th & 25th JUNE - Braunston Marina There you will have fun working out whether a boat is; A large Woolwich, a small Woolwich, a Josher, a BCN joey boat conversion, a Northwich etc.
  19. Yes. Not entirely successful as the bow is higher than the stern, water can tend to collect at the back. I drilled a hole then took a hose via a drain fitting to a side vent.
  20. There is one at Ellesmere Port. Photo taken June 2022.
  21. Graham Reeves Hulls have a drain here: A typical Reeves Bow
  22. Does the trial with Progress & butty Eagle count? Progress was, of course used at the official opening of the double locks with the Duke of Kent in 1934. Is this the wide boat at Stoke Bruerne the one you mean? What about Tranquil Rose? Been around from approx 1975.
