  2. For personal reasons I sold Tyro in 2006. I had a feeling I should not sell her but ignored it. As soon as she was sold I knew I had made a dreadful mistake. She has since passed through a couple of owners and now 'cc's' the MK pound. Every time I see her I feel like bursting into tears but oh hum life goes on. Regards Ditchdabbler
  3. A couple of months ago Landlady and myself attended a talk at Stoke Bruerne Museum given by an ex-Daventry policeman who is now a C&RT patrol officer. Mr.Finch was not the subject of the talk but the subject arose. It appears that Mr.Finch has dropped off the radar and not been seen for some considerable time. He is not a guest of HM either. He is now an alcoholic in his mid-seventies so his prospects do not look good. Regards Ditchdabbler

  5. Yet again the bellows on my Thetford PP365 has split. It is a right pain to replace so I thought I would buy the new PP365Qube which has a plunger instead. I have always had a spare cassette on board as one is just not enough so I enquire of Midland Chandlers as to whether the old cassettes fit the new type to be told they do not and that Thetford are no longer selling spare cassettes, the only way to aquire one is to buy two toilets! Smelling a rat I enquire of Thetford if this is so to be told that it is and that production of the 'old' 365 has stopped and spares are no longer manufactured, when supplies run out that's it. Needless to say I am not buying a Thetford, the chap at MC said that many customers are complaining and that Thetford are not interested. Instead I am buying two Fiamma toilets via MCs sister company which deals with RVs and camping. The price of the two Fiamma toilets IMHO is low enough to justify buying two to get a spare cassette as Fiamma too do not sell spare cassettes. I have no complaint against MC, they have been more than helpful. Anyway, the two 365 cassettes I have are clean and in good condition and will appear on the For Sale section sometime although do PM me in the meantime if interested. I am based in Milton Keynes. 11. Try River Canal Rescue. I am sure they will know something as they regularly deal with.contaminated fuel related breakdowns.
  12. I use a metric adjustable spanner. Had no luck with imperial adjustables. :-) Regards Ditchdabbler

  15. The long pound was changed to 24hr some years ago. I remember the days when it was all 14 day and it was always rammed with the same boats overstaying even this generous allowance. Surely moving to 48 hrs is an 'enhancement'. We just had a bank holiday cruise to the long pound which was pretty much full when we got there Saturday. The spice of Bruerne was very busy with folks queuing for a table both the pubs seemed busy too. Got to be good for the local economy. Stoke Bruerne is not the place to have boats parked up for long periods, it needs a good turnover to keep the place vibrant. Regards Ditchdabbler

  22. Just tried the link and it worked for me. I think however 60 amps is the biggest charger they do although you should check with them. My eu2i had a switch which set the machine to a constant output. Have you tried this this. Perhaps the changing demand from the inverter charger is too quick for the genny to respond. Regards Ditchdabbler
  23. Have a look at Sterling Power Products http://www.shop.sterling-power.com/acatalog/Pro_Charge_Ultra.html I have run their stuff via a Honda Eu2i very successfully in the past. Regards Ditchdabbler Edited cos I messed up the link.
  24. Try using disposable nappies. I get mine from Wilkinsons they are dirt cheap, 'scuse the pun. I reckon each nappy absorbs up to four pints so you might not need too many and they don't need leccy. I just dispose of them in the regular rubbish dumpster. Regards Ditchdabbler
