  1. The anglers that fish the Yelvertoft area have complained about the ironworks and the narrowness of the path going from the Wharf towards Yelvertoft Marina to CaRT and the only comment they got from CaRT was that it is "good enough for walkers and cyclists", even though the anglers cannot get their trolleys to parts of the canal without nearly falling into the canal with all their equipment - and they pay for fishing that stretch, but walkers and cyclists do not
  2. I have pictures but don't know how to load them onto my message. The size of them (two are more or less together hence tripping on one and falling onto the other) are 17" and 18" long and 2" to 2.5" height.
  3. I have reported it to the local waterways office but, apart from a "hope you get better soon" type of reply, nothing further has been done to the ironworks - they are in the middle of the towpath which, until the leaves had fallen and obscured them (which is when the accident occurred) they were quite plain to see, but leaving rusty ironworks slap bang protruding in the middle of a path is dangerous for any people/dogs walking (and there are a lot of dog walkers along that stretch). Even the enforcement officer of the area had stated (before my accident) it was an accident waiting to happen. I just wondered whether anyone else HAD actually tripped or fallen over them themselves. Unfortunately, as I notice a lot on reading postings made previously, you make an innocent comment/observation about things and canal forum members (not all granted) seem to take great delight in starting a "witch hunt" for no reason apart from they obviously have nothing better to do with their time
  4. Of course I was using my torch but I was making sure my dog was not going too near the canal so shining the light on the dog not where I was walking
  5. I have and had a nasty accident as I tripped over them and fell onto one of them whllst walking my dogs in the dark for their last walk of the night whilst moored there a little while ago - ended up having 7 stitches to a deep wound and then ended up in hospital for 3 days because the nasty gash became infected!!
  6. Has anyone ever fallen over the ironworks that are sticking out in the middle of the towpath at Yelvertoft just going towards Yelvertoft Marina from The Wharf - opposite the old British Waterways sign to the left of the marina?
  7. Has anyone ever used this company's services and would they recommend them?
  8. It is the 1600. He has a 1800 also but am going for the 1600. Yes Dave, I'm very grateful to you put me in touch with someone who could help me. The sooner I can start moving around again the better - keeping an eye on weather as last time I was @ Cropredy it flooded!!
  9. Hi there all. Have been in touch re Ford engine on Apollo duck. They seem a good company to deal with and have experience in delivering engine s all over the UK/world so hope it will b safely delivered. The scumbag that stole the gearbox and other personal items on both of our boats was given a week to return said items before I contacted the police. I have now contacted the police and they are on the lookout for him also - see my other posting on General Boating ###boat name removed###
  10. Thanks Dave I'm trying to make contact with them now.
  11. I will have a word with Lancing Marine and see what they say/suggest
  12. Thanks for your comments here, all helpful. Calcutt did quote me with a view to installing it all, so might be my only option as there appears to be nothing much on the website that I can see that might help - yet, that is. My boat is a 52 foot Clubline Cruiser. Matty - I have looked around just in case my gearbox happens to be amongst the items mentioned, but I think my engine was dealt with by other means to which the fish and other canal life might not find acceptable (I have been told by a reliable source)
  13. Thanks Alan for your comments. I think you are right as it will have to be marinised - I have spoken to Calcultt Boats re a BMC engine and gearbox and they have quoted £4,000 altogether, but I am hoping to go a cheaper route if at all possible
  14. Hi I do not know whether anyone can help but I need an engine and/or a gearbox fairly quickly. My boat used to have a Ford 1.6 Diesel engine in it. The guy that was “helping” us find a new engine took the old engine out and dismantled it and was disposing of it for us. Unfortunately, unbeknown to us, he has also taken our gearbox as well and cleared off leaving us in the lurch around the Cropredy area without an engine or a gearbox to fit a prospective engine. I wonder whether anyone have an engine that might be suitable for my boat (which possibly has a gearbox)? A guy we know has two car engines that could be fitted into the boat (Peugeot and Ford van engines) but, if they were to be fitted in, we need a gearbox that is compatible with those particular engines. Has anyone got any of the above or do you know of anyone that could help us out? As I say, we are moored around the Cropredy area.

I am beginning to learn a lot about Shaun and definitely nothing good. He has hoodwinked my partner and I and stolen stuff from us whilst "helping" us with my boat and has left us more or less stranded on another part of the canal.

I have his mobile number but not an address though I know he has a brother in Wellingborough, so an address for him would be beneficial.

Thanks for being in contact with me, much appreciated
