  1. As I have said elsewhere, it's been done in a colour scheme based on the rule used by many old canal companies. This rules states that "It's my bloody boat and I'll paint it what ever colour I like!". I am claiming no historic accuracy or authenticity whatsoever. I've just done what I feel like.
  2. He used to disappear into people's engine 'oles to looks at the engine numbers, sometimes much to their surprise. I sat talking to him in the cabin at Braunston for about 3 hours once. He was a lovely man and fascinating. After posting above, just spotted your post. I remember when moored up at Braunston he lept into the boat next door. I think the owner was about to go in and accost him before I stopped him.
  3. To prevent losing shower pressure when using kitchen cold tap?
  4. It's not uncommon. It's very helpful if you have a gas water heater and you want to fill the kettle while someone is in the shower without the boiler going out.
  5. Rivets 5000 is upside down in Edwin's garden. ETA - just noticed the post above. I do have a picture - not my copyright though so I can't post it.
  6. I wonder if the same preson still has Buffalo. It was owned by an old chap who had had it for years. He said he would never sell it (we tried).
  7. What about the copper blocks/ingots (not sure what the correct term is). ETA I have a picture of copper blocks being loaded onto a pair. They are approx 3ft x 2ft x 4 inch. I don't suppose too many were required to load a boat down.
  8. I'll can have a measure up of Tycho's next weekend if that's of any help?
  9. January 1978 Don Grey on Pensax in front (with a Bolinder in it - I think).
  10. Keith Ball has a nice launch in his yard requiring restoration (quite a bit of restoration!). I have been told it's history but can't remember off the top of my head.
  11. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.6949498,-2.1900352,310m/data=!3m1!1e3
  12. If anyone has a picture of the ladder, I'd be very interested to see.
  13. Stretton as in the Shroppie black and white aqueduct over the A5, just north of Brewood.
  14. Tycho is getting something similar very soon. You'll have to come over and have a look. She is only at Stretton.
  15. Really? Where are you paying those rates? Dry stone walls needs quite a bit of maintenance if they are to last. They won't have an SBI number as they would not qualify as an active farmer so can't claim SPS (now BPS). They will be able to claim some of the Pillar 2 funds though. However, the last thing we need is a towpath forest filling up the canal with leaves. It's bad enough as it is now. If you want a forest, then go to a forest! ETA - also I think you are confusing "greening", which is an element of the Pillar 1 BPS, with the other funds available under Pillar 2 (which is the 12% you refer to).
  16. I presume this is the one to which you refer? Taken 2011 on the Crinan.
  17. Lovely to see Bramble when it was short. A shame it isn't still like that.
  18. If you have a land based address, I would suggest that you keep that as the registered address for you ticket and simply install another cabinet on the boat to keep your gun in when you are aboard. We have cabinets in the office but non of the guns kept in them are registered to ticket holders at that address. When I was at university, we had a gun room but again non of the guns kept in there were on tickets registered at that address (albeit that it was a specifically licensed facility for that use).
  19. Empress is nice. Steamer cabin but without the steam plant leaves a bit of extra living space.
