  1. Plenty of room on here but as others have said not practical to unload and move along towpath any distance. Just a standard motor bike would be ideal.
  2. Or you could look for a nearby house or building that enquiring at will reveal the owner. Either then take the trouble to ask and if given the ok you can gather all you want, otherwise just load them and go. i did once make enquiries about trees that had been cut and was given permission by the estate manager to help myself. It was a real nice way to cut the stuff up split it and load it with no worries of any comeback. Your choice.
  3. Get them gathered and split, lay on roof neatly.Always try and lah split logs bark side up it keeps them dry, nature's coat. As said bring some in when you light your fire 24/7 to dry around fire. Never leave near fire when off boat so just judge what's needed and store accordingly.Nothing beats a roof full of wood gathered this time of year.

  5. Google sue and Richard on NB indigo dream they rescue greyhounds and travel on a regular basis with greyhounds on board. https://www.google.co.uk/url?q=https://indigodream.wordpress.com/&sa=U&ved=0ahUKEwjsvuKwk_DOAhXJa5oKHfvdAlsQFggLMAA&sig2=iDGWIr11DPreC7uXpKMzcA&usg=AFQjCNG2wzGurjhJLjTizjmofCLkSfHhBg
  6. Just as an update this is what I found as a solution. At least the switches are protected. Trying to turn picture OK so bottom pic. Just two shallow compartmental boxes with back cut to fit over switches. Lid opens for operation but switches can be seen through clear box.
  7. Fair enough. I'm old and crotchity.
  8. Is it a waste of CRT money, must be some costs here with signage etc. Will it lead to youngsters walking into the canal with eyes glued to the screen. Am I just getting to old and being a spoil sport.

  10. Well over 14v when charging....how much over. Sit nice and high around 13volts......13. What. How long after.
  11. Remember whoever you choose YOU decide where your mail gets sent, any partisapating post office all over the country or perhaps someone you know who lives confidently close to a canal you will be travelling. Also I use my same doctor and send stamped addressed envelopes for a repeat prescription via post restante or if you go into a chemist beforehand use that address, works better with a small chemist as small means less people to be aware of your script arriving. Also some surgeries use electronic prescriptions where you get. the chemists electronic address. Be aware though drugs on the controlled list cannot be sent at the moment electronically but changes are being brought in.
  12. You have to remember these company's will either open and scan your mail perhaps leaving out junk adverts etc.then sending it on to you via post restante. Or they might just send everything unopened again via post restarted to you at more cost because of weight. If you have someone you trust use their address and the can forward non urgent stuff just the same via post restante. Any urgent stuff you might want to read and phone the sender can be done same day it arrives by getting your trusted person to scan it or photo it and send it electronically. Getting a company to do this is expensive and not100% reliable. We use a relative for general stuff and a different relative for medical appointments, just because one is at home more than the other and I have lots of hospital letters. Over the years your junk mail will fall dramatically especially if you don't give your address unnecessarily. Example buying something in a shop for cash and they want an address so they can add you too a mailing list that will also be sold on. If poss use a relative or close friend to keep you business to your self as much as possible.
  13. I suppose it`s not that important. Perhaps if Big Col had just added to his other Gifford Park threads it wouldn`t have seemed so many. Take no notice, to much on my mind.
  14. Did we really need another thread on this subject? This must be about number 5.

  16. The reason people don`t clear up is because they can`t be bothered and any kind of sign will not change their attitude. Well done to you all that clear up but trying to convince the other selfish bastiards is a waste of time so we just have to accept these people unfortunately live amongst us.
  17. My memory of High Lane was the large diy store up the hill that stocked and cut veneered sheet material and delivered it for silly money. Very convenient steps coming down from a street just off the main road onto the towpath. Couple of nights there, all quiet.
  18. Certainly not directed at you in any untoward way at all Betty. Just used your description of your experience as to what this individual was doing.Yes I suppose on reflection mostly we all do enjoy our boating life and incidents like these are just discussion points.
  19. I agree with what you say. What puzzles me is why and this is not the first thread on Gifford is evdryone getting uptight, let crt sort it and just enjoy boating. It's just a small piece of towpath.+ Just what crt are doing about it is not clear but surely they are the only ones with authority to put an end to this man as you say causing criminal damage, although I would be more bothered if he was interfering with say a bridge rather than digging over come grass edging.
  20. Exactly so no need to get into any conversation with anyone be they crt or a pretend volunteer or anything else. In this instance the boat had a plate number.
  21. I'm having trouble understanding the fuss about Gifford park. A guy digs the grass which I assume is about a boat length. So moor further along to avoid any confrontation and just let the landlord (crt) deal with it. A guy appears to be checking boat numbers and takes down a plate number and knocks to check name of boat. Politely tell him the name or tell him the plate number will give the name when checked by crt. Why all this about something trivial when everyone should be enjoying their boating. OR am I missing something, please tell.
  22. Well in can only think it's all dependant on which local authority area you live in. I am certainly having no problems whatsoever. Wish them both well anyway.
  23. Why on earth are the authorities unable to care for this man just because he lives on a boat. He can be visited by doctor and nursing staff, also welfare people can call in to help. His boat has a door the same as a bungalow. Plenty of people get all the help they need and are helped to live in peace where they choose. As for threatening to stop his benefits surely that can't be right.
  24. The whole thing will be up to the authorities who place the child and no opinion on here will count. Best contact the authority for more guidance.
  25. If anyone has a use for this it`s free. Mains or 12v with lead and controller. On southern grand union at moment.
