  1. MY boat builder used to fit to a plate and screw the plate to the column . I asked him if he could just cut a hole in the column and fit it, he did, but it was a puzzle as to how to wangle it out - but it did come out. At least I was sure it came out - because he had got it in! It might take a few twists and turns but give it a try Alex
  2. A 1000W at 220V is 4.5A A 1000W at 12V is 83A 20 times more!!! A standard domestic 6A switch at 220V will handle 1300W A standard domestic 6A switch at 12V will handle 72W. Alex
  3. I've had one of these - http://www.sp-shop.co.uk/Sterling-Power-Pro-Power-Q-12v-1800w-Inverter-PN-I121800.html for 7 years. It has never failed to run any thing I've plugged into it and is still perfect. Alex
  4. Hi Copper pipe should be available chandlers, they should stock it, but maybe as gas pipe. Olives for nylon pipe are different to copper pipe olives. Alex
  5. There are definetly ones one the River Lea and there used to be one at Victoria Park but the only other one I can recall is at Little Venice. Although thinking about it, there is one at the St Pancres boat club. It is never a problem if you moving along every day, there seem to be always one within a days cruising. Hope this helps Alex

  7. Hi Are you sure its the top one - the bottom bearing is much more likely to wear out? Alex
  8. Ditto ------ It can be quite hard to steer it back straight. Slowing down helps Alex
  9. Hi You will need to be sure the connections for the mains cables are big enough. If you run two - both will have to be fused. Calculate the maximum load on each bank and make sure the supply cable and fuse is large enough. Hope that all makes sense ? Alex I have just had another look. It seems to have nuts for cable lugs for the mains in cables For 100A you will need 16mm cable in red with suitable lugs with 5mm holes. This need a 100A fuse near the battery to protect it. If it is along run (over 5 meters) you might have to consider volts drop and go even bigger You could simply link across if there is enough room for two lugs. The Black negative must also be 16mm section.

    fenders

Stuff your old fender into a gocart tyre You may have to cut the side wall to fit - buts its quite easy with a Stanley knife You can just see my rear fender hanging from its chain
  14. Hi You need to know what power (watts or amps) the head unit requires and make sure the supply cables are big enough for this load. They could be substantial. Alex

  19. Hi Have a look at this recent thread, it might just help. http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=55484&hl= I don't know the size of your belt but if the 950 (usually means the length in mm) went on and tightened, its not far away. Check the section and make sure its adjusted to have only 1/2" of up & down on the longest run. Also check the belt and the pulleys and is running straight and not snagging anything. Alex
